As I've told you all repeatedly, BYU's anachronism is the source of all of its problems. As soon as it progresses from the mid-nineteenth century to the twenty first century BYU will have a chance to solve its problems.
    I don't think it's anachronism. It's pride.

They think they are the only true church and therefore infallible when in reality they are generally speaking, morons in business. Well-intentioned, but stupid.

Forgive them; they know not what they do. But they should...

I think he was referring to how BYU is run, but well played.

EDIT: I think I was wrong here. I think he really did claim that the LDS Church are morons in business.

I wasn't talking about what I do during the rivalry game. I was talking about this subject of whether they should play. Frankly, I'm indifferent. Actually, I want what Whit wants.

Whit has to sell what he has been selling (that Utah is too big for the rivalry now). Lots of people are pissed that the rivalry is going away. The best way for Whit to escape unscathed is to pitch it to fans that Utah is on to bigger and better things, and the demise of the rivalry is but a small blip in the road.

Whit would be right if the rivalry were just a game, with no overtones of religion, and elitism, etc.

Whit's bigger sell down the road: The new rivalry with Colorado is just as exciting and intense as the old Holy War was. Fans would be outraged if Whit tried to sell them this bill of goods in one fell Swoop (hehe). So he has to make the rivalry go away, and then in a few years start marketing the heck out of the Colorado rivalry.

That is fine with me. You haven't added anything to the discussion anyway. I doubt though you not participating in the thread will be a "thread killer".

You realize we're talking about BYU and not Mormons, generally, right?

You guys are great at high skill trades such as lawyering and accounting. The engineers deserve serious credit.

Oh and Mormons are not the most prosperous people...the church is rich but Mormons are generally not.

                      good argument.

BYU athletics is not run by those who run the business affairs of the church. It is also not run the same as the many very successful businessmen who pay tons of tithing to the church, which accounts for a lot of the wealth of the church.

Actually, I would contend BYU athletics is run more like the Obama business model.

It's good to see you don't care about this discussion.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

this is not terribly impressive. The LDS church taxes its people too much...the entity is rich while its people are mediocre, generally.
