Sorry dude, humor is part of how some people deal with horrific things. You deal with things in your way, just like everyone else. These are hardly the first jokes made about this and will hardly be the last.Originally posted by Green Monstah View PostDamn, guys. I've been impressed with what Oklahoma has done to remember Austin Box this season, who died over the summer. First, they put his helmet on the practice field, all though fall practice as if he were actually there. For games this year, his locker has been set up for him, even at away games. And one defensive player each week has been selected to wear Austin Box's #12 that week on the field.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostThis is not entirely unprecedented, at least the act of commemoration during an actual live game.
Several years ago, Mario Danelo, kicker for SC, died mysteriously near his home in San Pedro. As a tribute in the home opener, SC went into "missing man formation" on the first PAT attempt. It resulted in a penalty, but was an amazing gesture.
Plashcke writes about it here and there is even a YouTube link to the actual game, although the audio is awful. There is a better video of it out there somewhere.

Anyhow, a Missing Man formation for the victims would be an amazing gesture.
It seems like something similar to this would be fitting for Penn State this year. For example, you could have a player each week wearing a number meant to honor the victims. You could implement a "Wednesdays Heroes" Bronco type of program for victims. Seems like there are things the school and team could do to show support for the victims.

I'm at the point that killing the football program would be a good way to support the victims.Originally posted by aCougarFONT View PostI've been impressed with what Oklahoma has done to remember Austin Box this season, who died over the summer. I did, I apologized for what I said to try and make a joke about this. However, to deny that humor is a valid coping mechanism for some just doesn't mesh with reality.Originally posted by WashingtonCoug View PostThat's a horrible excuse. Right, it's just a rumor which is why I call it allegations and rumors in my posts. But your post is grounded in logic, the only problem is that logic was thrown out the window a while back in this whole mess. I do hope it is only a rumor.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostThat's true, but I'm not ready to completely believe it because the conspiracy grows larger and becomes less plausible. It's one thing for other programs to hear about Sandusky and decide to stay away from him, but it's another thing for a pimping operation to be in place because that involves more boys, more parents, more communications that can be uncovered and none of it was revealed in the grand jury report.
I'm certainly not saying it couldn't have happened, but right now it's just a rumor."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

My goal here isn't to make you feel bad, but you need to understand your audience. There may be people here where this hits too close to home. If you want to tell a joke, tell it to a friend that might be more willing to hear it. For many here, your jokes are pretty offensive.Originally posted by atheistcougar View PostI did, I apologized for what I said to try and make a joke about this.
