They got a bit of a Riley Nelson situation there. Robinson obviously gives them the best chance to win. But when forced into passing situations it's dicey. Sigh. It's pretty disconcerting how our playcalling goes from genius to terrible when we get behind. Denard has really struggled, but it would also be difficult to come up with playcalling that more precisely exposes Denard's weaknesses.
That review on 2nd down really could have gone either way, and probably should have been a TD, and the throw on 4th down was definitely PI.
But whatever. If you put yourself in a position for the refs to screw you, you can't complain too much. Denard has lost a step in the running game, and just isn't comfortable in this passing game.
We've been overrated all year, so it's not surprising to blow one on the road against a mediocre team, but it would have been fun to make some noise a year or two before the pieces are actually in place.Comment
