Those were collosal choke jobs. But even with those if not for the ST gaffes BYU was in the game.

I also think that those mistakes are fixable with more experience.

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

Which is why I'd still rather be playing Jake right now. Oh well.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

He needs to be punished for ruining our expectations for this season, 2012 is that punishment apparently.

How can you coach a team like that? Hi there entire team we are going to sacrifice your entire year in the hope that this kid reaches his potential.

Now if Heaps is given the reins again for next year after beating Riley out this spring and over the summer, so be it. But for this season it would be suicide to turn it back over to Jake.

edit: The above was a bit extreme. The season would not have been sacrificed just the USU and I think the OSU games. If Heaps plays all 12 games team is likely to finish 7-5.

Either that or play much better.

What would we be sacrificing? As not awesome as Jake played to start the season, playing him straight through the schedule at the point he was benched wouldn't have significantly altered the course of our season. Even if Riley would have played better against the opponents we've faced since he took over, as Surfah keeps saying, you could throw Terence Brown in at QB and our W/L's probably wouldn't have altered that much.

I (sadly) agree with SU -- at this point I'd rather play for 1 or 2 great seasons than a bunch of forgettable 10-3's. This season was a waste. We have nowhere to go and nothing changes this year by changing the W/L column by a win or two. I would have preferred to waste it trying to get somewhere. That said, I realize there a whole bunch of other factors this year that make the scenario much more complicated.

Now if Heaps is given the reins again for next year after beating Riley out this spring and over the summer, so be it.
I don't think this is even a possibility at this point. As has been stated before, it would be Jake beating out Riley in practice for a 3rd time. It's not really going to matter anymore.

But for this season it would be suicide to turn it back over to Jake.
That's not what I'm suggesting. You can't do that at this point.

Oregon State? They're garbage. I don't believe Heaps would have lost that game. Regardless, to me there isn't a hell of a lot of difference between 7-5 and 9-3 when no matter what you're playing C-USA in the Armed Forces Bowl. DDD said it best. This season is a w.a.s.t.e.

Simulated game environment? Isn't that what he had against Idaho State?
