Good call on Bevell. Zero ties to BYU, no head coaching experience and out of the college gane for over 10 years so I am sure he understands the nuances of recruiting.
Regarding Stubbs their is a reason he is passed over for evry hc job. On top of that he hates BYU he thought the OC job was his and was pretty much told to give tulsa notice when BYU went back on their offer and hired Anae.*Banned*

Ken niumatolo seems to be the only right choice

Yeah that's why Pete Carroll couldn't make the transition to coaching college.Originally posted by cougjunkie View Postout of the college gane for over 10 years so I am sure he understands the nuances of recruiting.
Pretty sure I framed it as a "does he? - if yes - then" conditional. But "zero ties to BYU" = just like all three head coaches of the modern era at BYU at the time they came to the Y.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostGood call on Bevell. Zero ties to BYU, no head coaching experience
Sounds a bit like.... the current head coaches of both BYU and the University of Utah.Originally posted by cougjunkie View Postno head coaching experience
If you're thinking GC I'd say... no. Since GC spent all of one season in the NFL as an OC and was pretty much figured out by NFL defenses by the end of that season. But he'd dazzled enough eyes with funky formations by that point that he was a shoe-in. Bevell's five years as an NFL OC + three years as an NFL QB coach sort of trumps Crowton's one year running an ineffective offense in Chicago. [EDIT: Crowton's offense averaged 12.8 pts per game in Chicago]Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostDidn't we try that within the last decade?Last edited by oxcoug; 10-29-2011, 11:17 AM.Ute-ī sunt fīmī differtī

They can be mutually exclusive. Bronco is such a sheister with the fireside/spiritual nonsense that he's bought himself a lot of leeway. He's no dummy.Originally posted by jay santos View PostYeah that's what I was thinking. Viking how does Bronco go from placeholder to long time coach with Bevel as the only candidate?

I know that it felt like Crowton took us back to the Stone Age, but he was a HC prior and it was technically the "modern era".Originally posted by oxcoug View PostIn a perfect world ... maybe. In a perfect world Andy Reid would (a) shed 50 pounds then (b) come to coach at BYU.
But personally I'd be happy with a guy who has Coordinator-level NFL experience or high level D1 coordinator-level experience.
In its modern era BYU has not hired an HC that was HC somewhere else first.
Stay away from my sister. I'm watching you.

Agreed. BYU fans expectations are way to high. Since he became head coach we are the 7th winningest team in the country. I guess that is not good enough.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View Post2 years removed from four 10 win seasons in a row. Currently 6 -3. I should clarify - I'm not advocating the change - I've been a Bronco fan from the start - I just don't know that he actually wants to be around that much longer. And if he's not the damnit there should be a thread for speculating on what happens next.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View Post2 years removed from four 10 win seasons in a row. Currently 6 -3.
