Good call on Bevell. Zero ties to BYU, no head coaching experience and out of the college gane for over 10 years so I am sure he understands the nuances of recruiting.

Regarding Stubbs their is a reason he is passed over for evry hc job. On top of that he hates BYU he thought the OC job was his and was pretty much told to give tulsa notice when BYU went back on their offer and hired Anae.

the only way that Bronco leaves in the near future is if he grows tired of the fans. To do that, fans need the boo him and his players. Not the team, but his 'players.' The walk on players that he wants to shine.

I just don't think the fans we do anything like that, though.

Yeah that's why Pete Carroll couldn't make the transition to coaching college.

Pretty sure I framed it as a "does he? - if yes - then" conditional. But "zero ties to BYU" = just like all three head coaches of the modern era at BYU at the time they came to the Y.

Sounds a bit like.... the current head coaches of both BYU and the University of Utah.

If you're thinking GC I'd say... no. Since GC spent all of one season in the NFL as an OC and was pretty much figured out by NFL defenses by the end of that season. But he'd dazzled enough eyes with funky formations by that point that he was a shoe-in. Bevell's five years as an NFL OC + three years as an NFL QB coach sort of trumps Crowton's one year running an ineffective offense in Chicago. [EDIT: Crowton's offense averaged 12.8 pts per game in Chicago]

They can be mutually exclusive. Bronco is such a sheister with the fireside/spiritual nonsense that he's bought himself a lot of leeway. He's no dummy.

Only the devil can out wrastle Bronco now

But personally I'd be happy with a guy who has Coordinator-level NFL experience or high level D1 coordinator-level experience.

In its modern era BYU has not hired an HC that was HC somewhere else first.
I know that it felt like Crowton took us back to the Stone Age, but he was a HC prior and it was technically the "modern era".

Haha! KW put the Utes in the Pac12, then promptly destroyed all credibility they had! His reward is to come back home and lead us to prominence again. Our evil plan is nearly complete!

Maybe I will, maybe I won't. But you should probably boardmail me her name so I know how to avoid her.

You two would actually get on far too well. But she's really liberal and loves gay people.

2 years removed from four 10 win seasons in a row. Currently 6 -3. The guy bugs the hell out of me but is a good dude and is a good coach. Tough crowd.

Agreed. BYU fans expectations are way to high. Since he became head coach we are the 7th winningest team in the country. I guess that is not good enough.

I should clarify - I'm not advocating the change - I've been a Bronco fan from the start - I just don't know that he actually wants to be around that much longer. And if he's not the damnit there should be a thread for speculating on what happens next.
