  • Listening to bronco almost cry gushing about Riley's Heart and determination,

This is Broncos problem. No matter how bad you suck, if you try the hardest, you are going to start.

    • FTR, I don't think I've ever blamed Heaps for a loss in a game where we scored 28 points.

Coaches first. Then Riley. Then everything else.

          • Riley made two or three throws while being tackled that were retarded. He was trying to hard. He has to fix that immediately.

Riley is still head and shoulders above Heaps this year.

I'd love to see Lark get a chance, but it isn't going to happen.

Bronco peaked as a coach in 2008 or 2009. He is now in the Steve Cleveland slow decline, maybe Oregon State will hire him. I don't know who would replace him, but it is possible that an elect soul has been prepared to guide BYU football to the promised land.

Riley Stephenson is just horrible, pull his scholarship and let anybody else punt. Seriously, he is that bad.

I'm very quickly coming around to your line of thinking. Bronco is a major Moran and had his hat handed to him tonight.

What an absolute horrible comparison. What is the point?

                • While we're looking for who to blame let me add Ogletree to the list. He has a drive extending penalty and the next play gets burned for a TD (when he slipped he was already a few yards behind the WR) although that is on the coaches for expecting a MLB to cover a speedy WR.

His penalty was on first down, FTR. Not sure that counts as a drive-extending penalty.

Player of the Game for BYU: falslev?

The point is other BYU QB's have had games where they've sucked the big one. 2008 Max had two. However evaluating Max solely by the 2008 TCU game really isn't fair the same way that evaluating Riley solely by this game isn't fair.

I'd give it to him. That was an awesome return.

2008 TCU defense might be the best defense BYU has faced in the past 10 years. This defense has been torched this year.

                            • Our QB situation is horrible. Heaps has been and is excellent I practice. He can make the throws but can't play the game. He reminds me a lot of Fat Engy. The effect of his presence is the same. He has interfered with our ability to get a legit QB rotation and we are stuck with Nelson who is a slightly better version of Lance Pendleton. Remember how the result of Fat Engy was poor QB play for two more years? That's what Heaps is doing to us. We are back in 2002.

Let's all stop acting like either of these jokers is the problem or the solution. The solution needs to come from the coaches. We are a complete QB mess and our coaching is the problem just like in 2002. Then, as now, our OC was also our de facto QB coach. Then, as now, our coaches made the wrong call on the starter. What will they do now that is different from then to mitigate the damage from their screw-up?

I think that is ultimately the problem, though. Riley's success is because he "keeps trying" regardless of how bad the play is going. Both his great plays and his turnovers seem to occur because he tries to hard. I think without trying to hard, Riley doesn't work at all as the QB.
