I always feel like I have to bring up the Oct 1994 matchup bt the 49ers and the Eagles in these conversations.
At SF. Philly 40 - Niners 8. Young got benched in the second half and unleashed a stream of profanity at Siefert. The Niners looked like ass clown amateurs all day.
Only they went 14-2 that year, broke all kinds of offensive records and dominated all the way through the Super Bowl. It might well have been the Niners best offense in their Super Bowl era.
None of this is to say that BYU is actually an elite team that's just had collapses - this obviously isn't the case. It's just that even the best of elite teams eventually play like they're not elite - and sometimes they have outright meltdowns.
