Maybe it isn't all bad news. My brother sent me this vid of John Hays. He makes some decent reads, has a nice arm, and has some very nice wheels. He probably won't survive long putting hits like that on safeties and linebackers in the PAC, but I like his intensity.

What the hell?!?!?!Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostPhony? I'm one of the few real posters as it pertains to this issue. I believe cougjunkie has also been fairly honest with his feelings on the matter.
Unlike myboynoah and goatnapper'96, majerus-loving Ute lackeys who seem to tickle your fancy with obsequious drivel and prayers for divine healing, I have the courage to speak my mind. This was posted only yesterday. I cannot speak any more plainly that this:
http://cougaruteforum.com/showpost.p...3&postcount=10
Coach Maj was a gross, fat pig with no self-control that wore out his welcome and was far from a genius. Plus he was mean to handicapped people. Plus natural is much better.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I've seen 6-1 and 6-2, but I don't believe that after seeing him on the field on Saturday.
Boy, this season is going to be interesting.

This is where I disagree. I don't think someone can be a genius once, and then not be a genius later. If one is a genius, then one is always a genius. This is not the case with being fat.Originally posted by Portland Ute View Postmajerus was a basketball genius.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

1. Spare me this claptrap.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostAlso, Shreeve and Blechen as well as Wynn and Robles were all highly rated QB recruits.

Not to mention 2012 qb recruiting has been strong:
http://espn.go.com/college-sports/fo...254/class/2012
ESPN usually doesn't rate JUCOs, but Rivals gave Cain a four star rating:
http://rivals.yahoo.com/utah/footbal...nce-Cain-74507
No. 42 JUCO in the nation.
Utah's qb recruiting has been fine. The lesson is that great quarterbacks are rare however they are rated as HS qbs. Look at BYU. For all their hot qb recruiting how many have turned out to be great?
Portland and mpfunk, I'm tired of your negativity. You don't know how good we have it. you both trashed Majerus until you suffered the aftermath for years. Maybe TopUte would enjoy your company on Utefans. (1)
Don't say Whit can't develop great qbs because Brian Johnson was not as highly rated as any of the aforementioned prospects. (2)
2. BJ is Ludwig and Dan Mullen's work, combined with watching Alex Smith for a year. Kyle's impact is minimal.

Sorry, i only meant to include you in the "ute lackey" portion of my message. Your heartfelt post yesterday about Jordan Wynn betrayed a fawning and desire to please that makes cougar fans uneasy. Unless I sense some animosity from you towards the Utes, my opinion will remain unchanged.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostWhat the hell?!?!?!

Goatnapper'96 is the majerus lover. He is an admitted Ute hat wearer in his youth. After years of wearing Ute hats and Simi Valley hats, it is no wonder he joined the army and shaved off all his hair.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

There are many cases of genius being lost or used up.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostThis is where I disagree. I don't think someone can be a genius once, and then not be a genius later. If one is a genius, then one is always a genius. This is not the case with being fat.
Very common with artists. They burn out after going mad because of what they perceive to be failure.
Same thing happened to Majerus.
He was a basketball genius that burned out when he "failed" to win the NC in 1998. It was too much to take. He never returned to greatness.

This is a little melodramatic. He was a really good hoops coach.Originally posted by Portland Ute View PostThere are many cases of genius being lost or used up.

Let's leave the genius tags to guys that figured out how to win it all multiple times, let alone even once.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I guess you could say the same thing about Lavell Edwards. After the 96 season Lavell finished:Originally posted by Portland Ute View PostThere are many cases of genius being lost or used up.

6-5
9-5
8-4
6-6
And never won another bowl game.
I prefer to think of Lavell as a genius, even despite the fact that he was medicore at the end and didn't appear to pass up too many meals.

I dunno. I hold the theory that Majerus really did sink into a depression/madness following the 1998 NC game loss. He never seemed as jovial after that. He seemed more bitter. Less energy. The rumors of bad behavior increased. The recruiting seemed to get schizo. He was offering kids from Thermopolis, WY, that even the WYO staff had no interest in and didn't believe was a prospect. I could be way off. I don't know the guy personally. It's just what I observed. Maybe 1998 changed me and therefore the way I viewed him. HOwever, I doubt that. I've talked to people that know him and they say that he changed after 1998. He took it REALLY hard.
