Pitt had 271 against Rutgers. That's pretty solid - perhaps even explosive by Utah offense standards!

By the way, I'm not sure what stats you are looking at from the Rutgers game, but Pitt did have 271 yards against Rutgers.

They were unreal I'm that game. Their pace was great, run blocking was crisp, then......poof

The official NCAA stats website showed them at 98 earlier in the week when I looked. I did not see the game.

I thought I heard 98 this week as well. Just looked at the box score on ESPN and it shows them at 271.

            • My thoughts on the game:

Sure was nice to have the defense not on field the whole game

Sure was nice to see the offensive line blowing up the defense. Yes they gave up sacks but at least three of those were coverage sacks and the others were pitt bringing the house.

Did Utah throw deep all game? Why was hayes throwing sidearm? On third and 10 it would have been nice to be in shotgun to give hayes a little more time to read the D.

Utah has way to0 many hot heads. Cullen and White are at the top of the list. I am surprised that last PF was on Cullen.

Punting has been a problem for 2.5 years now. Sellwood was slow to punt and now marsh. Someone tell griff mcnabb that he needs to call fair catch more.

              • Hays not throwing downfield was probably due to the wind and how Pitt was playing on defense. The game plan was very vanilla, which is understandable with Pitt's inept offense and 10 TOs the last two weeks. Agree about Hays in the gun. Would like to see more spread looks.

                • I don't see how Cullen can have been only harmful to the Utes if White rushed for 174.

My guess, and I am really going here, is you didn't watch the
                    game.

                    I know.

LOL. That is the only way SU could think Cullen didn't harm the Utes.

Take it from me, bro, we won that game in spite of him. I wonder if he'll start against Cal.

                        • reading how bad the wind was from people who attended the game, I can understand why Hays didn't throw downfield. That's just too risky, especially for a team that's been careless with the ball as of late.

I understand why they didn't take shots downfield. You could see the wind on the T.V. Both the offense and defense had a good game plan and they executed on it. I am very happy with the way the team played yesterday. It is never easy for teams from the west to travel across the country and have a noon est. kick-off. It was a really good win for the Utes. I am pissed at 2 people on that team, John Cullen and the Special teams coach. Both were horrific yesterday.

no doubt Cullen has been a major disappointment. At least once per half his name is being called for missing block that results in a sack or commiting a costly penalty. Someone else needs to be given a shot at left tackle.

Whitt's impressive with his stat knowledge about games, he's always famous for saying the team that gets a punt blocked will lose that game 85% of the time, glad that didn't happen yesterday.

Somebody in the BYU thread said that any win on the road is a good win. I think the same thing about Utah-Pitt.
