I saw something interesting yesterday in the NFL. The 49ers played at Cincinatti last Sunday, then flew to Youngstown, Ohio and stayed there until Thursday before flying in to Philly for their game against the Eagles. Instead of making the cross country trip twice. Not sure if that would work for a college team due to class, etc. But it makes me wonder if BYU should have done that when they played Ole Miss and Texas back to back. Or Florida State and Virginia way back when.

I saw that as well about the the 49ers. It worked out well for them. I know BYU flew out on Thursday afternoon when they played at Boston College a few years ago. I think it would be hard to stay out there a week with classes and these teams don't have the budget that NFL teams have. I think it would help though.

I bet it would help a ton if Utah could fly in to Pitt today and practice this whole week at 10am eastern.

That won't help them against Arizona St.

The better question is what in the hell was there to do in Youngstown for a week, besides contract various STDs

Arizona State is a lost cause. They should start preparing for Pitt now.

I guess that is where the Debartolos are from so they stayed at the family compound. (not kidding that is what the announcers said)

That must be a serious compound to put up an entire NFL team, trainers and everything they travel with for a few days.

The Debartolos do have serious money.

Nope, I would go to Western Kentucky before I go there.

Hey, you don't mess with one of Momma Bears cubs. Remember that when you are at home for the Holidays and BYU is playing on ESPN 8s Wonder White Bread Bowl on December 18th to kick off bowl season.

Travel time may depend on if Penn State is at home that weekend. During the time that we were in Philly, my cousin played football for Michigan. We went to Happy Valley when they came to play Penn St. Traffic was brutal for the last 30-45 miles on the turnpike, all the way into campus. Going home was no better. No wonder people show up on Thursday evening with their motorhomes and tailgate through Sunday afternoon.
I think you might be mixing up the turnpike (I-76) with 322 or I-80. The turnpike doesn't get within 75 miles of State College (but I-80 does).

Just don't speed. There are tons of cops on the turnpike on the weekends.

I tried to talk my wife into going to this game, since we have a 4-day weekend. She said there was no way in hell she was going back to Pittsburgh in October for her fall break.

                                Fair enough.

Hit the Warhol museum if you can. It's top-notch and pretty close to the stadiums. MRD has been there.
