True but it's still a double standard.Originally posted by Jacob View PostIt's not my standard. But Jake was an 18 yo freshman last year and this is Riley's 4th year playing college ball.
Getting the reps helps timing with the receivers, how a QB copes with pressure, and gives the QB obvious opportunities to work on the mental part of the game. The age and experience really isn't germain to this argument.

Shaka - a question about your avatar:
Is it because Nelson reminds you a bit of Fran's style of play? Or are you a fan of him? Or a combination of both?
He was a lot of fun to watch when I was a kid. I don't think I've ever seen anyone run as many actual yards as he did and have so few total yards."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

Fran and Staubach were my QB heroes when I was a very young kid. I loved Fran's crazy approach to the game. He was very exciting to watch.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostShaka - a question about your avatar:

Yesterday I heard numerous people comment that Riley's performance reminded them of Fran. The way he was avoiding pressure was very reminiscent of Fran.
I guess the avatar is a way to honor my childhood hero and give props to Nelson.

plus two years of a mission. gotta say: Nelson looks like a poised pro compared to Jake...Jake just needs to sit a year and let his mind cool off a bit. Nothing wrong with that and he needs to be told as suchOriginally posted by Jacob View PostIt's not my standard. The brother in between me and DoctorCoug has hair that looks like Riley's, except a little longer. We call him Jesus since he just grew a short growth beard.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostI'm guessing that his hair is just this side of being compliant with the Honor Code.

Nice, I'm just glad the Honor Code office is staffed with people that likely don't watch sports (other than figure skating) otherwise we might have to vacate that win due to an ineligible player.Originally posted by All-American View Post
Maybe Nelson is our Samson. I predict that if he cuts the hair he'll lose his Aggie beating powers."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I overheard several BYU fans at priesthood session last night talk about how long they thought his hair was and they couldn't understand how he was compliant with it that long. Needless to say that conversation stopped when I joined their circle.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostI'm guessing that his hair is just this side of being compliant with the Honor Code.Dio perdona tante cose per un’opera di misericordia

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

My hair was about that long while I was at BYU. The only time I ever had any issues was during intramurals. Every once in a while, an HC student nazi would get mad at me and not let me play in a volleyball or softball game. Very silly.Originally posted by Moliere View PostNice, I'm just glad the Honor Code office is staffed with people that likely don't watch sports (other than figure skating) otherwise we might have to vacate that win due to an ineligible player.

Never had a problem in class or testing center.

You a Viking fan Shaka... I also saw shades of Tarkenton on Riley's scramble and 40 yard bomb.Originally posted by Shaka View PostFran and Staubach were my QB heroes when I was a very young kid. I loved Fran's crazy approach to the game. He was very exciting to watch.

I was when I was a kid. The books I read as a kid featured a lot of Vikings. My grade school library had one on Tarkenton and another that covered the team. I guess the idea of Purple People Eaters appeals to kids. Also I was fascinated by
Jim Marshall's Wrong Way Run.
