Hmm. Maybe we were reading different posts. That's not the jist I got. Most of the complaining (including by you) was about the policy and the fact that the policy is a requirement or is enforced. Whatever. I don't really care. Make this another HC thread. I can always just stop clicking on it.

Quotes like these are why I'm on the Riley Bandwagon:
On how it made him feel when teammates said they rallied around him, played hard when he was in there:
"When your teammates pay you a compliment, obviously that's the highest form, because they are the ones who are in the locker room with you, battling day in and day out.
No offense, but when the media pays you a compliment, or a fan, they don't really know everything that is behind it. So you take it with a grain of salt. But it actually means something when it comes from one of your brothers in battle."
On coaches calling him a football player as a show of respect:
"Aren't we all football players? I would hope so. If there is starting to be a distinction between certain positions, and whether or not they are a quarterback, I don't know if I can let my sons play, because we are all football players, all 11 guys on the field, hopefully."
On whether he brings the leadership to the quarterback position that maybe has been lacking this year:

Can you tell me why the policy was not enforced until the kid got on TV. The policy is one thing, the hypocricy of how it is enforced is another.Originally posted by Jacob View PostHmm. I guarantee you it wasn't the polciy. It was the fear of the neo-con elelment in the faith and their reaction. Thus not only the hair cut, but the apology.

Above the ears, wow. Tough on the surfer boys. What if you have a long neck line? Do you have to shave off the bottom to get it above the collar?Originally posted by Jacob View PostMust be trimmed above the collar and above the ears. His looked clearly not above the collar.
You don't have to answer. I'm not being critical. I really don't care.

That's a new application of that almost always mis-used term.Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I've got spare time.

This is a fair critique of Doman's intention of where to move the offense from Anae. However, since the first game we're doing it less and less. Heaps is throwing most of his passes out of the shotgun.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostSome blog speculating on the PA thing.

I thought you were fond of "Mulluahs," no? Honor Code Nazi's? I don't know. Just trying to be helpful. I have no idea who you were referring to in your post. The claim seemed outlandish to me, which is why I responded with the Tommy Boy quote.Originally posted by byu71 View PostOK, I don't like appearing ignerant, even if I am. What word should I use for the uber-conservative folks in my tribe.
Or, you could just stick with active Mormons. Most of them probably took note of Riley's excessively long locks.

It's true. When his helmet popped off on that play, my wife gasped "How does he get away with his hair so long?" I quickly reminded her that I rocked an afro and a beard for half my time at BYU. She, in turn, quickly reminded me that I wasn't ever on national TV during my time at BYU.Originally posted by Jacob View PostOr, you could just stick with active Mormons. There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

I thought we had finally reached the point where we dispensed with the pagan Roman idolatry of short hair cuts and shorn faces?
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

What? BY had long hair? Talk about a testimony breaker. Hell, if you could prove that he wore a beard, I'd be out!Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostI thought we had finally reached the point where we dispensed with the pagan Roman idolatry of short hair cuts and shorn faces?

Yet you seem to be indicating that Nelson's hair presents some big problem. I don't get why anyone cares about this one way or the other. The funny thing about the BYU dress code is that it's more stringent than it was when my parents were there in the 60s. It's a vestige of Wilkinson worrying about BYU being overrun by hippies.Originally posted by Jacob View PostWhat? BY had long hair? Talk about a testimony breaker. I've not said that his hair presents a big problem. I have said: "Whatever. I don't really care." But I can see how you could have been confused due to my continued response to posts on the topic.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostYet you seem to be indicating that Nelson's hair presents some big problem.
