Riley is a known commodity. He'll only be so good throwing the ball, but he'll give you some running plays. If Heaps could be accurate, the right call would be to go with Heaps.

I don't know what it's going to take to get Heaps to be accurate with those throws. Maybe he needs the rest of the year (and maybe redshirt the next year) to develop. Benching him was the right call; he simply wasn't getting the ball to the right guys.

We're about to enter cupcake row, with only one good team left on the schedule. We'll do no worse than 8-4 going into the bowl game. We'll finish the season thinking we are quite good, whether we are or not.

And yet, seeing the ESPN replay of that touchdown pass to Hoffman . . . maybe we'd be right.

There's something wrong with Heaps' head.

Riley has inventiveness, athleticism and goddamn it's been a long time since I've seen a BYU QB go through his progressions as well and Nelson does.

This kid put the entire team on his shoulders and won the game. He has to be given the start.

yall are silly. You can always get on the train and then when you realize it's not going to get you where you want to go get off and get on the next train.

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

Not to burst my own bubble, but I agree. That was a lot of fun, but nelson just doesn't get me excited.

But hey, that was our best qb showing of the year so for now the trains rolls on!
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Nelson is like a classic Big 10 QB (particularly Wisconsin). That can work a lot better than a sophomore who is afraid of getting hit.

THis, however, is where not having a QB coach will hurt: Nelson could use eyes and ears on the field with him plus some mechanics work in practice.

So now Nelson is Russell Wilson? You don't know dick about football.

I'm on board whatever train will get Jake Heaps ready to step up to BIG TWAYELVE FOOTBALL! I really don't care much about the rest of this season. We'll beat up on some cupcakes, lose to TCU, probably lose to Hawaii and play Directional U in the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl. That will happen with either QB at the helm. If sitting on the bench a bit will knock some fire into Jake, then let's do that. If he needs the reps, then let's do that. Simply put, I'm for whatever needs to happen for our Big 12 talent QB to grow into that role.

I predict if Nelson is the starter for the rest of the season, that Heaps transfers at the end of the semester to whatever team his mom researches out to be the best passing offense that can guarantee him a starting position. Maybe Fresno State or something.

Valid point. IMO a change to a spread run and shoot type O would help Heaps. He doesn't like getting hit and would be able to just take the snap and wing it.

SMU would work. He and Craig James would prob get along

Russell Wilson is not a classic Wisconsin quarterback. That might be why they are really good.
