    No OJ jokes?

I predict that when the U plays Oregon, he will make jokes about Nike. Good stuff.

The school that Ted Bundy attended would be unwise to make O.J. jokes.

Kiff wows the media with his silver tongue. Has nice things to say about Utah. The practice field in the background is part of the Game Day guided tour.

Ute fans starting to show up at the Diz - saw a couple families. Presumably here to see the game after a family vaca.

            History in the making

History will be made this Saturday when USC hosts Utah in the first-ever Pac-12 football game. There will be a special ceremonial game ball presentation at the pre-game coin toss. USC also will honor the 10th anniversary of September 11, including a military jet flyover and Trojan Olympic and military legend Louis Zamperini serving as honorary game captain for the Joint Forces Day activities. This will be the 10th meeting between USC and Utah, with the first 7 occurring before 1950 and last 2 coming in the post-season. USC has won 71% of its conference games. Because of NCAA penalty, Troy not only is banned from the post-season for the second consecutive year but from competing for the league title, which it has won 38 times (more than twice as much as anyone). It's the middle game of a 3-game season-opening homestand for the Trojans. Utah has scored only 2 points in 3 previous visits to the Coliseum. USC is coming off a shouldn't-have-been-so-close win over Minnesota as WR Robert Woods and QB Matt Barkley both broke long-standing school single-game records. Woods is the national leader this week in receptions and the Pac-12's leader in receiving yards, all-purpose yards and scoring. Barkley completed 75% of his passes in the opener and redshirt freshman TB D.J. Morgan had a nice rushing debut. USC's defense, which had 4 sacks and allowed just 302 total yards last week, showed signs of improvement from 2010. Leading the defensive charge are players such as S T.J. McDonald, LB Chris Galippo and CB Nickell Robey. Coach Kyle Whittingham's Utah squad opened up with a Thursday home win over FCS opponent Montana State. Three-year starting QB Jordan Wynn leads an offense that features juco transfer RB John White and top returning WR DeVonte Christopher. Key Ute defenders are LBs Chaz Walker and Brian Blechen, who had 2 interceptions in the opener. There are some familiar faces on the Utah staff: former Trojan assistants Norm Chow and Tim Davis. The game will be shown live nationally on the Versus Network. Some notable USC Olympians will be saluted during the game. USC's women's volleyball, men's water polo and women's soccer teams are in action at home throughout the weekend.
Here is a link to the rather lengthy weekly Game Notes. You can all cut and paste from this and pass it off as your own analysis.

Bold prediction: The Utes will more than quadruple that total on Saturday.

                .

so much is being made of Wynn's arm strength, and his inability to throw down field, that I'm sensing in order to over compensate, were' going to see nothing but fly and post patterns against USC.

Some DB's are going to have to go both ways on Saturday in order to give the WR's a break.

I don't normally rememher dreams, but I had a dream this past weekend that Utah beat USC 23-3. In this same dream, BYU beat Notre Dame 59-10 (I know, they play Texas, but hey, it was a dream).

I am anxious to see if this was premonition (re: Utah vs. USC, not BYU vs. Notre Dame). If I turn out to have psychic abilities I am going to be really happy.

LAT with a bit on Blechen, local boy returning to town

Also, a question for the group. Why is this game repeatedly referred to as the Inaugural PAC 12 game? Kal is playing Colorado 3 or so hours earlier in the day, aren't they?

that game is not a conference game, as CU and Cal were scheduled to play that date previously ooc and were not scheduled to play this year in conference. The result will not count for conference record.

I see. Much like this weekends BYU/UT matchup, I guess.
