LOL, this is an interesting discussion to be had who are collectively dumber UF.N or CB?Originally posted by kccougar View PostJust the opposite. I would have posted in the "Utefans say the Darndest Things" thread but no one has started one - probably for fear that they would end up copying/pasting every other post.

What? I think I will go over to UF.N right now and post the followwing:Originally posted by LA Ute View PostIf many of you were not uncomfortable with that, my comments would not be drawing the heat they are now drawing from you all.
1. Coach Krystko is classless for recruiting USU's commits.
2. Coach Whittingham is a classless for his onside kick on Wyoming.
I assume from your logic that when the inevitable firestorm of criticism comes upon me, it will be because all of the Utes over there are uncomfortable with these things as well, otherwise my comments would not draw the heat.
Your comments are drawing heat because you are completely oblivious to the fact that you are blinded by BYU hate. For example, your comment that Bronco was inspired more by WWII than by Shakespeare. You have no evidence for this, but you believe it because it makes Bronco, in your mind, look worse.

I am excited for the next Shakespeare inspired slogan at BYU! Any guesses as to what it will be?Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostI don't have a problem with the comparison, although I confess I've never served (I'll defer to our resident Bosnian field commander and implant inspector for a ruling, here). Honestly, believing Bronco had only Henry V in mind when he came up with the theme is probably as inaccurate as assuming the 101st Airborne was the intended comparison. Almost certainly, it was a combination of factors, but I’m convinced the St. Crispin’s Day Speech was a major impetus for its selection.

you know what seems more disingenuous than a three word slogan? pretending that the under armour wounded warrior project (which utah supported with those stupid ass unis last season) isn't a blatant marketing ploy designed to capitalize on the misfortune of men and women in uniform. i am significantly more offended by that than calling a team a band of brothers, which is an ambiguous reference ot the military at best.Te Occidere Possunt Sed Te Edere Non Possunt Nefas Est.

FWIW, I wore the 101st patch on my left shoulder for 3 yrs and came within 6 hours, not counting travel time, of being able to wear it on my right. I think the whole thing with the patch/motto is both overblown and silly.
Personally I wouldn't buy or wear the BYU patch, but that's just me.Last edited by happyone; 04-12-2011, 01:29 PM.
I may be small, but I'm slow.

I think Bronco Mendenhall emasculates Ute fans. However, that is probably not his most difficult accomplishment.
I don't offend easily so I might be the wrong one to ask and I find class a pointless discussion, but I doubt the warriors from WWII would offend easily either. My guess is if LAUte! were blessed enough to sit down with one and explains to him his offense and then were to ask the veteran how he feels about Bronco Mendenhall and his "Band of Brothers" slogan, my guess is the vet would inch close to LA and ask: "Do you come from MambyPamby land? Pull the string, Counselor!"
I point out that I wore the uniform, attended this country's Holiest of Holies Military Institutions and as LA requests the opinion of expert witnesses, I suppose my perspective should be accepted as indisputable fact. Our fighting men were not pussies, we should not behave as such in a feeble effort to defend their virtue, especially when their virtue is not likely our primary goal- reeks (sp?) of a secular form of priestcraft. While they fought, sacrificed and many even died for all men to have the freedom to demonstrate their lack of testicular fortitude, it is their hope nobody would take advantage of that liberty. Sort of like burning the flag, IMO.
So Brethren, join me in covenanting to never again to allow Bronco Mendenhall to turn you into a string pulling nancy. You will be better men for it and the vets of the "Greatest Generation" will go to their well deserved eternal rest knowing their sacrifice was not in vain.
GOD BLESS THE USA!

PAC and other CUF friends:Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostWhat's the antecedent here? Are you referring to our discomfort with (a) your thinking Bronco's use of the phrase is cheesy, or (b) Bronco's use of the phrase? If the latter, you have resorted to the final argument of a loser: "You're just arguing with me because deep down you agree with me!" No, we don't.
Maybe it's time I stopped being a thread-jacking creep and tried to close this out:
1. I think Bronco's approach to promoting his program is inherently cheesy and wince-producing. I doubt this will ever change. I am a Ute fan. Our rival's opposing coach will annoy me, unless it is Dave Rose or Steve Cleveland. Anyway, it adds spice to the rivalry.
2. I concede that Bronco may have been thinking of Shakespeare when he came up with his patch. Still, in the popular mind we all know that phrase evokes the HBO series and WWII.
3. I mainly posted about the patch to tease you all. I know that will provoke cries of "passive aggressive," but that was my intent. Deep down, I know you all really want one of these:

4. Peace.

Neither a borrower nor a lender be,

Shut up already, Ute Fans. Your team wore camo during a game.
The patch may seem cheesy, but Coach Bronco actually rides a hog, so it makes sense. I'm buying one in honor of whiney Ute Fans.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
