I have heard that the hardest position to recruit in the 3-4 is the NG. The "ends" are essentially DTs from a 4-3 or situational DEs from a 4-3 but the NG is unique. I believe the reason he is key is that the entire defense keys off of what he does/can do. He has to be big enough not to get knocked off the ball, ever. At the same time, he has to be able to play and occupy the entire interior line. I've heard ideal size at nose is 6-2 to 6-5 and 315+ and that the "ends" are usually similar in height but can be as low as 290-300 in weight. Given that information, it is clear why we have had trouble stopping the interior run in the past with our 3-4. We haven't had the players at D-line.

I don't really have anything to add to this thread, I just wanted to get some Ute representation here. Many of you all are always so good about participating in Ute football threads even when you don't have anything worthwhile to contribute, I just wanted to return the favor. Thanks. As you have probably noticed, I have not only not participated in the Utah football thread, I think I maybe looked at it when it was 1 page. I would guess it is now longer than one page.Originally posted by DU Ute View PostI don't really have anything to add to this thread, I just wanted to get some Ute representation here. Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

That's too bad. Not sure if this has been posted but I know you guys will want to know about it:
PURCHASE BAND OF BROTHERS PATCH
Here's what you can have to sew on your windbreaker or workout shorts:

This is even better than "stripling warriors," because although it also dares to compare college football players to men who fought, bled and died for freedom, it does so with reference to men who did so only a few years ago.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

I wouldn't wear it, the delicate amongst us might run around wildly rending their garments and stringpulling while feigning deep offense at Mendenhall stealing an idea invented, copyrighted and owned by the writers at HBO.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostNot sure if this has been posted but I know you guys will want to know about it:

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

Relax. LALAUte is discouraging people from donating to a charitable organization which helps at-risk children and struggling families, but he's doing so to protect war veterans from being lumped in with college football players, so it's understandable.Originally posted by kccougar View PostYou're stretching now.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

"Band of Brothers" is Shakespeare, not Stephen Ambrose/HBO.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostNot sure if this has been posted but I know you guys will want to know about it:

woot's right. You and your colleagues who mock BYU's use of the Band of Brothers motif because it supposedly rips off a book and cable series that were produced in the past twenty years reveal an embarrassing gap in your liberal arts training. Can we add LAUte's contribution on this subject from Utefans to the ALUF hall of (sh)ame?
