  • Mike Leach going to be fired?

    http://myespn.go.com/blogs/big12

Holy crap, there is stupid then there is Texas Tech. Someone is going to land a nice prize if this happens. On ESPN TV they just talked about this and said that Leach is likely to be fired as early as tomorrow. Holy crap.

Of course in true Big 12 like fashion Tech starts next season
    North Dakota
    Rice
    @Houston
    New Mexico

So with or without Leach 4-0 and in the top 10!

"Hello Mike? This is the University of Tennessee, we might have a head coaching vacancy very soon...you interested?"
"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

He was pissed about the buyout and penalty for interviewing with other teams without permission. They're going Boston College on him. TTU is dumb.

I wonder if he would want to take a year and replace his old buddy Dr. Bob as BYU's OC while waiting to see what jobs are out there after next season.

          It's a win-win for Leach.

If they meet his demands, he makes a crapload of money at a school where he'll never finish better than third in the division (he's clearly taking his cues from Mack, who doesn't mind playing second fiddle if the price is right).

If he gets "fired," then he finally gets out of the town that was named the single dumpiest college town in America by ESPN. And if you've been there you know it's truly deserving of the honor. And he'll won't be hurting for offers, either.

Rumor has it that TT fans think Whittingham is theirs for the taking. If they really believe this, they're quite possibly the most idiotic fans around.

I wonder if SU would still go to war with Whit if he bolted for Texas Tech?

Not at all. They're saying that **if** they throw enough money at him he **might** be willing to move to Lubbock. The fans are really really nervous. They're trying to think of what "plan B" could possibly be if TT doesn't award the contract.

                  Dunno.

But I think the chances are greater that SU would do this than KW would leave for Texas Tech.

I appreciate you clearing this up...not that it's something to worry about for Ute fans.

Not in the slightest. I mean, why would a coach want to leave a mid-major for a school where he could actually have a shot at the national title?

You're BCS arrogance is showing again. And it's not a national title. It's the BCS title.

KW doesn't have a BCS ego. Therefore, I repeat most emphatically, Ute fans need not worry about Whittingham leaving Utah for Texas Tech. I'll even go as far as saying that it's doubtful he'd leave for any BCS team.

I hesitate to never say never. If TT threw 5 years $10-13 million guaranteed at him? That is a lot of money to turn down. If someone offered you 2-2.5 times your salary to do the same job, on a more recognizable stage would you turn it down? I work for my family business and I don't know if I would turn it down.

Perhaps so, but I'm pretty sure about KW being a Utah guy for the long haul. He would have to uproot his family and I think his youngest is now in junior high school, so there would be a lot of consideration of the effect it would have on his kids to go elsewhere.

Maybe Whitt is taking cues from Mack also. Win the conf every few years, and win 1 big game and all your smaller bowl games, instead of win the conference and lose all your bowl games.

BYU and Oklahoma are more alike than I ever realized. This BLUE RIVER SHOOTOUT will be epic!
