Please. It was money that got him to stay at Utah and it will be money that takes him away. Just like Urban, the mighty dollar speaks very loudly to Coach Whit.

He has you all fooled. Kind of sad, really.
    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Like I said if kyle really wanted a larger stage where you could win the bcs title etc... just wait until Ariz or Ariz st are open as they are close to where you live now and have opportunity just like the TT
An argument for taking the extra cash is that coaching is a fickle business. Why not stockpile enough cash so that you can retire comfortably if things head south? Sooner rather than later.

This is classic gold SU. Love it.

I've already said if I were him I'd go. I wouldn't be surprised if he did. I wouldn't go to a dump like Texas Tech, impossible to recruit to and in a terrible place to live, though. Maybe Notre Dame will open up soon.

Agreed but its not like he hasn't ever made any money. He's been making top tax bracket money for a quite awhile now. My guess is he has some money "stockpiled" if you will.

Not to mention he has a contract with Utah that will pay him 6 million over the next 5 years. If they fire him they still have to pay him most if not all of that contract.

But it's an extra level of security. Who are you or I to say that he should be content with his current level?

Yeah, Lubbock sucks, but it is in a great BCS conference with access to much more talent than he can find in Utah's recruiting pool.

This is probably not true. I bet there's a much less expensive buy out.

I've never met a fan base that deserves a coach's loyalty.

If they called he's at the very least listening. My whole point is that just because its more money doesnt AUTOMATICALLY mean he is sure to leave. There comes a point when you are rich (like he is) and extra money while it being large doesn't really affect you that much.

Impossible unless you are Mike Leach. Is your opinion that KW is a lesser recruiter than Leach? Because I think selling kids on a MWC school would be harder than Texas Tech.

Well, it's all relative. He wouldn't be able to touch Texas and Oklahoma however good a recruiter he is. At least in the MWC he doesn't have to beat Texas and Oklahoma to make it to a BCS bowl.

The crazy thing is, why isn't Tennessee trying to hire Whit instead of Leach? Whit is so much better, clearly.

You're underestimating Whit. He can do better than Lubbock. I bet he's heard from Tennessee. Texas Tech will always take a back seat to Texas, Oklahoma, and probably Nebraska in the long run.

And Tennessee is going to be in the shadow of Florida and LSU (and probably Georgia and Alabama) for quite some time. With a lot of these schools a new coach is basically heading into a lions' den. The expectations are so high, and the timetable so short. Success is nearly impossible.

He'd be smart to stay where he is, unless a Florida or Texas or USC opened up.

Good point. Probably what he's thinking too. No doubt he's heard from Tennessee.
