Listening to these Bronco/Holmoe interviews with Wrubell.

I love how they're spinning everything about independence as a positive. It's quite hilarious. But anyway. It's very petty for me to bring up, but I just can't listen to Bronco without being completely annoyed with what he says.

First he says independence and these bye weeks in November are great because he and the players can spend more time with their family. Seriously?

Then he says he was kind of caught in the middle over Thanksgiving, knowing he had to go back to work with football, not being able to completely give himself to his family. Then he chuckles and says something like "I know no one out there has any idea what I'm saying." No BYU fan listening to the interview has any idea what it's like to juggle work and family and have a difficult time dedicating entire focus to family knowing they have something intensive work-related they're going to have to get back to? Come on Bronco. Be a human.

It's so minor and petty. But it's the difference between being a charismatic guy that people love and being an asshole no one likes. "i'm sure your listeners can relate to that tough feeling of not being able to wholly dedicate yourself to family blah blah blah" vs "i'm different, i'm better than everyone else, my life is more difficult than everyone else blah blah blah".

As a Ute fan I know my opinion means little, but I think Bronco is a good man who is doing very well at a uniquely challenging D1 coaching job - the most unusual such job in the USA. I used to think he was sanctimonious, but I now think he's really sincere and trying to do something very different and honorable at BYU. The Cougars are not my team but I respect what he is trying to do.

See? SU is right. You can't be an active Mormon and hate BYU.
