Awesome. This is the kind of experience our coaching staff needs.
Great job by Whit.

That's probably the biggest thing right there. Dude's been scheming against those teams for years. No one else on that staff really knows what to expect against Pac 12 teams, I would think.
His scheming has worked so far against PAC 12 teams, right?

Seemed to work okay at USC.

I learned recently that Chow would not leave Manhattan Beach.
I think he has always kept his house in Utah. If I were him I'd keep the place in MB too. One of my favorite places. I'd live there if I didn't like a little yardage around my house.

This is a horrible hire for Utah. Chow's best days are long behind him. He was successful at USC because it would have been impossible not to have been. My little sister could have been the OC with their talent. UCLA had a horrible offense the whole time he was there. Utah simply doesn't have enough talent to make him look good and he has nothing to offer that will make them better. What a wonderful day!

I don't want to tread all over this hire because it appears most Ute Fans are very excited. Certainly it brings lots of cachet and name recognition. People will certainly talk about it.
But I don't remember Chow all that fondly at BYU. He moved on and did one year at NC State coaching Rivers and then did quite well at USC at first (with great talent), but wasn't he moved aside in favor of Sarkesian? He then went to Tennessee, and was moved out from there. He was then at UCLA, and now is being moved out. He never seems to get fired, but moves on at the expectation of his bosses. Perhaps I'm wrong about this, but that is the feeling I get.
Maybe things will work out great at Utah.
Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

He left BYU after all those years because people were mean to him there.

wow. So much blue blood running through that program right now it's embarrassing. Reminds me of this guy:
Well, when you're on your way up you have to hire the best talent available. Kind of like when BYU's law school started and half the faculty were Utah grads. And Saint LaVell came from Utah State, a previous Utah football power house. So our hiring of your guys is just a nod to your past glory. You're welcome.

So you're saying Utah is starting from scratch? Things are worse than we though up there.

But Chow's originally a Utah Man, correct? He's coming home.
