            How much of a pay cut would Chow have to take to coach at Utah? Isn't he one of the highest paid assistants in the country?

              wow. So much blue blood running through that program right now it's embarrassing. Reminds me of this guy:

                This is a horrible hire for Utah. Chow's best days are long behind him. He was successful at USC because it would have been impossible not to have been. My little sister could have been the OC with their talent. UCLA had a horrible offense the whole time he was there. Utah simply doesn't have enough talent to make him look good and he has nothing to offer that will make them better. What a wonderful day!

                  I don't want to tread all over this hire because it appears most Ute Fans are very excited. Certainly it brings lots of cachet and name recognition. People will certainly talk about it.

                  But I don't remember Chow all that fondly at BYU. He moved on and did one year at NC State coaching Rivers and then did quite well at USC at first (with great talent), but wasn't he moved aside in favor of Sarkesian? He then went to Tennessee, and was moved out from there. He was then at UCLA, and now is being moved out. He never seems to get fired, but moves on at the expectation of his bosses. Perhaps I'm wrong about this, but that is the feeling I get.

                  Maybe things will work out great at Utah.

                  Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

                      That sounds like what happens to most people that start at BYU and end up at Utah. It's called the refiners' fire. Sadly, we lose some.

                        Well,when you're on your way up you have to hire the best talent available. Kind of like when BYU's law school started and half the faculty were Utah grads.
