I hope the mtn sticks around. Nevada and Fresno State will get to experience the same level of competition as they did in the WAC with even less exposure.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I think the financials of The Mtn were weak with BYU & Utah in the fold. With them gone - and ~85% of the viewership in any given week gone with them - I don't see how they keep it going.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostI hope the mtn sticks around. It's one thing when they can count on a game or two a week that will be good for them that can help carry them through, but now? I just don't see ANYTHING compelling about the MTN. I've clicked my last 616 - for football anyway. And I can't be happier...

That is why I say I'm interesting to see where it is in three years. I could be totally wrong.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostYeah, this year was a horrid start but BYU Fans stuck around, and not because of the slight possibility of an MWC championship (CJ broke my heart with his prediction).

You haven't seen much of Colorado or Oregon State, have you? USC, Oregon and Washington State are no great shakes either.Originally posted by UtahDan View PostI hope you are right, I still think we are at square one there. We walk in there far and away the worst team. We are going to need to score some big recruits or get lucky and find a diamond in the rough (haven't had a coach able to identify those in a long time, of course).
Far and away is a massive stretch.

I hope that is true. Do those teams lose to the likes of Oral Roberts? I don't know, maybe they do.Originally posted by Top Ute View PostYou haven't seen much of Colorado or Oregon State, have you? USC, Oregon and Washington State are no great shakes either.

I've had to remind Colorado Buffalo fans of their 2006 season opening loss to Montana St. when they criticize Nebraska's non-conference schedule.Originally posted by UtahDan View PostI hope that is true. For the next member of the conference, the Big East should pursue East Carolina. That would bring the conference down south further, the school is rabid about football and the fanbase is pretty rabid about the school. They don't have BCS history behind them, but they often make it to bowls and have put guys into the NFL.I have nothing else to say at this time.

big east basketball will have every team play each other once. Then each team will play two more (generally their rivals)."Be a philosopher. A man can compromise to gain a point. How many byes are going to be awarded now in the Big East tourney? Are the top 2 seeds going to advance straight to the semi-final? I bet they go back to their old only top 12 teams get invited to MSG format.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostWho doesn't like 18 team conferences?
No wonder they get in 7-8 NCAA tournament teams every year they make up that percentage of division 1."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic
