I say that Boise St is way better off in the MWC than they were in the WAC.

    1) They are playing regional rivals that they have wanted for a long time.
    2) No more tuesday, wednesday, Friday or Sunday games.
    3) Better Bowl game for when they dont go to the BCS. If they don't get selected for the BCS this year they could play the third place MAC team in Boise. If Boise St jumps TCU... TCU will play in Vegas. Big difference.

People vastly overrate the ESPN affect. TCU jumped Boise this year and last. Utah jumped them in 2008.

While I agree with that, I'm referring more to the fact that the MWC would not allow a partial member in it's conference. Meaning BYU football indy and all others MWC. Hawaii allegedly, seems to be getting this deal which is clearly against MWC bylaws.

Anyway, no big deal. I'm glad to be done with the MWC.

And you are vastly underrating the effect ESPN has on recruiting.

One of two things is going to happen:

        1. Boise St. is going to drop into the shitter on recruiting because they will no longer be televised. (Because we know the mtn distribution is limited to say the least.

        2. Utah is going to get better recruits because they are now on a better television contract.

I in fact think both of those are going to happen, and they are both going to happen because of television contracts. Not because BSU is going to the MWC and UU is going to PAC12. It will be because of the TV contract.

Well since football is the money maker do you blame them? Leaving the other sports in the conference doesn't do anything the MWC.

If BYU wanted to stay in the MWC for football and have the rest of its sports go independent, instead of vice-versa, I'm sure the MWC would have listened.

No, I don't blame them. Can't a brother just point out some hypocrisy?

Maybe, but that proposition is stupid.

It is stupid and I am sure that it wasn't even brought up by BYU.

You can point it out but when you are dealing with scenarios that are different and impact the conference differently I don't think it is hypocrisy.

its not like Boise st is getting blue chippers now. Their recruits are going to be the same as if they stayed in the wac.

Damn that ESPN for holding Utah back from winning the national championship in 2008. Certainly with what you're saying, the ESPN effect is good for at least a one-spot bump in the polls, right?

If you want to call it hypocrisy or not it doesn't matter to me. MWC played hardball and they lost. So now they're doing everything they can to remain viable. I don't fault the MWC for that at all. But I also don't give a rat's ass what the MWC does now.

Exactly. It doesn't make sense. But it does for the MWC and Hawaii.

There's a segment of BYU fans who can't get over the fact that there are other programs that bring different/better benefits to the table. That's why Hawaii is a no-brainer for this kind of deal.
