    Confirmed

For the games of January 2011 through 2014, the first year the Rose Bowl loses a team to the NCG and a team from the non-AQ group is an automatic qualifier, that non-AQ team will play in the Rose Bowl.

      Assuming Oregon/Auburn Champ game
      Fiesta-Oklahoma B12/non-AQ or selection
      Sugar-Alabama or LSU/non-AQ or selection
      Rose-Wisconsin/Stanford
      Orange-two teams nobody cares about

There are still two spots. I could see Ohio State getting taken over a second non-AQ especially for the Sugar due to travel since two of the non-AQ teams, BSU and TCU are not even selling out home games.

I think if Utah wants Rose Bowl they need Oregon to win out and Zoo to beat the Trees next week.

Read the bcs rules. If a non aq qualifies they are going to Rose Bowl if Oregon plays in the National champ game. Sorry for the rose bowl but those are the rules

All Utah/TCU/Boise needs for a Rose Bowl bid is for Oregon to win out. Stanford can go 11-1 and it won't matter.

its the official site. No amount of whining from the trees will change it.

I don't have a dog in this fight, I don't care if Utah goes to the Rose Bowl or the Humanitarian Bowl. I wouldn't hang my hat on BCS rules, unless you have access to the entire document and are willing to litigate if they aren't followed to the letter.

The only chance for them to play in the rosebowl woudl be if the big 10 champ and oregon played in the Nat champ game. They wont meet in the fiesta bowl as it will be the big 12 winner and at large. They won't meet in the sugar as they will take the sec runner up. Orange will be big east and ACC teams.

If Utah remains undefeated its likely they would get shut out of a bcs game.
I disagree. Should both Utah and BSU end up undefeated, the BCS would jump at the chance to put them in the same bowl game so the risk of two BCS teams losing to non-BCS teams would be eliminated. It would be just like last year when the BCS wussed out and put BSU and TCU in the Fiesta Bowl.

That said, my choice for opponent would be Oklahoma so the Utes could temper some of Bab's sassiness.

What kind of fool would start a thread like this a week before the showdown with TCU?

                        Not a Utah fan.

I saw the title of this thread and cringed. Then I realized it was a Coug that did this.

Apparently, scottie is hoping that the gods of football are like Lou Holtz and get BYU and Utah fans mixed up.

I'm either missing an inside joke or unaware of what difference it makes.

Just making a joke about karma.

But while we are on the topic, you once said that if Utah makes the PAC, you would dump BYU and start being a Utah fan. Is the transition complete?

Not as big a fool as the kind who would say the Air Force game score comparisons "prove" TCU is better than Utah, the week before Utah and TCU are actually going to play one another. We have at least one of those fools here. See Maximus. If you are interested in seeing more of them there are perhaps a thousand on CB.

I don't think you get Karma. It has nothing to do with superstition. That's more a Mormon thing.

I think what I said was something like if Utah gets a PAC invite it would then become difficult for me not to become a Ute fan. I do cheer for Utah more, and I've become fairly apathetic toward the Cougs after the independence decision.
