The fact of the matter is we still don't know how good this Utah team is. I think TCU is overrated also. I don't think either of these teams are comparable to any of their previous BCS busting teams.

Is anyone more universally despised than Craig James? lol This is like OJ Simpson saying the Utes are overrated. Thank you Craig! (If you really hate us so badly you should send us one of your sons and then call Whittingham and hector him weekly about what a stupid coach he is becuase he doesn't play your coddled out of shape boy.)

I think TCU is legit and utah is still relatively untested. They finally played a mediocre team and struggled.

However if they beat TCU then they deserve their ranking. If not they will fall and fall hard.

I think TCU is more legit than Utah at this point but I am still not overly impressed with them. I think last year's TCU team was much better than this one.

In reality, there hasn't been much for them to be overly excited about. Both TCU and Utah have been coasting through a JV schedule. My intuition tells me both are better than we have seen. Utah survived their wake up call and we are about to learn a lot about both teams.

Side note, BSU must be flipping out seeing TCU jump them in the poll. Whichever team wins this jumps BSU for good if they win out.

I almost agree but we have to see how they do against each other. This Utah team doesn't have the QB the 2008 team had (in 2 years Wynn might be as good as BJ), and it doesn't have the killer linebackers or DBs we had in 2008 (yet). I always thought the 2011 Utes would be the "special" team, but this year's group may overachieve. It will be interesting to see.

I'll concede that point for Utah (a Pitt conference title would really help), but TCU is 2-0 vs. teams in the BCS top 30. Other teams with 2 games or less against BCS top 30: Stanford (1-1); Nebraska (2-0); Boise St (2-0); Oklahoma (1-1); Alabama (1-1); Ohio St (1-1); LSU (1-1); Oklahoma St (0-1).

TCU's SOS (72) is also comparable to Ohio St (85) and Wisconsin (67).

If Utah wins out I could see them being paired with an ACC team or Boise. A lot of stuff has to go right for Utah to make it to the championship game. As already covered, Oregon or Auburn would have to lose. I'd pray for LSU to beat Alabama to keep them out of the picture. If Utah wins this week, it will be interesting to see if they have enough to jump Boise. If Air Force and San Diego State continue winning, I think it might be enough by the end of the season. But there is a lot of sympathy among human pollsters for Boise. They have done everything possible in their power to get into the championship game.

One thing Utah's 2008 run showed was how many bounces of the ball (so to speak) have to go right for any team to go undefeated. That's why BYU's 1984 accomplishment deserves respect.

Assuming Utah beats the #3 team in the country, won't Utah have the much more impressive win? What would Boise have on Utah in that scenario?

                          If TCU wins:

Utah vs. OSU or ASU (or some other middle of the road Pac-10 team) in the Las Vegas Maaco bowl.

                          If Utah wins:

Utah vs. the Children of the Corn in the Fiesta Bowl.

What are the Las Vegas Bowl rules? Does Utah have to go? (I.e., is the only "out" for the top remaining MWC team BCS bowl?) I am afraid I know the answer.

I believe the Las Vegas Bowl has first choice of the MWC teams that are not invited to a BCS bowl. Utah could stay home, I guess, and let some other MWC team go.

I am sure we will go if that's the bowl we get. But yuck.
