Would you recommend BYU to a non-LDS AA?

I won't comment on this, only to say Surfah is right and that it's the elephant in the room when talking about black athletes who are considering attending BYU.Originally posted by Surfah View PostI would tell a prospective black, non-LDS, BYU athlete that he will get more action at BYU than he could anywhere else in the country.

This CB discussion is more valid than BYU fans would rather admit.

I agree it has merit. BYu would not be using these kids any more then these kids would be using BYU. I like it personally.Originally posted by jay santos View PostThis CB discussion is more valid than BYU fans would rather admit.

I don't like the concept. I think it's dishonorable to intentionally use a kid for the football program when you know there's a good chance you'll eventually kick him out. But I think it's something BYU admins need to acknowledge, since that's what we do.Originally posted by Flystripper View PostI agree it has merit. I think the honest solution is don't recruit them or don't kick them out when they break the rules. I prefer the latter.

Let me back up a bit. I too would prefer that we don't kick out kids for typical honor code violations like WoW or sexual stuff. I am not a fan of the honor code as it is presently enforced. I wish that non-members didn't have to abide by the very Mormon parts of the code. (like law of chastity and WoW)Originally posted by jay santos View PostI don't like the concept. I am also not saying that I want to recruit kids with the idea that we are going to kick them out. However, I think that recruiting JC kids at positions that are traditionally non-lds and black is not a bad idea since being good for 2 years is much easier than being good for 4 years. In addition, being on campus for only 2 years makes it more more possible for these kids' natural infractions to go unnoticed.Dyslexics are teople poo...
