Never did the fist roll, as the time spent in Cougar Stadium when I was a wee lad was mostly spent running around with a few other youngsters who were there with their dads. I honestly don't remember even hearing rise 'n pout back in the early 70s.

I actually might try this next time. It reminds me of Tae Bo.

My variation: I do nothing during the fist roll, but during the end of the "Go Cougars" part, I pump my fist 4 times, in unison with the marching band drums. It is very powerful.

I thought that was the BFM method referred to above.

fist rolling is the most awesomest thing in the world.

The fight song is tradition and the college football game day experience is all about the traditions. I am ashamed of you so-called non-fist-rolling "cougar fans". Is the fight song dorky? Are the hand motions lame? When performed solo, the answer is yes and yes. However ,when performed in unison across a packed football stadium the result is actually pretty awesome. You so-called cougar fans have a duty to enhance the awesomeness of this tradition especially as a fan of a school with very limited traditions.

If I understand correctly, he is active during the Fist Roll and then at the very end he pumps his fist once along with everyone else that is raising their fist.

I do nothing during the Fist Roll and, concurrently, during the "gooooooooo...." portion. When the crowd gets to the "Cougars!" portion, the band plays a distinct succession of 4 beats. You will find me pumping my fist in time with those beats. Not once, but 4 times.

For those that wish to try my 4 fist pump approach, check out @1:08 in this video to get an idea of what I'm talking about.

As I mentioned previously, it is fairly powerful to fist pump in unison with band, esp on the road. I try to combine my "4 fist pump" move with a subsequent Cougar growl paw swipe when the team needs an added boost.

Now I'm confused. The standard method is to fist roll and then raise right hand up for a double fist pump on the "Cougars" or maybe three fist pump on "Go Cougars".

In my head I'm thinking eight total beats. 5-6 for the roll and 2-3 for the fist pump. My most common method is to fist pump all 8 beats.

Listening to the band play on that youtube i'm reminded I have zero affinity for beats or rhythm. But I'm with you, I fist pump during the roll. That's my most common method.

Then why did you call me a stereotypical ALUF here? Which is it? Make up your mind. Sheesh.

I don't know what the standard method is because this board is filled with people that claim to be honest in their dealings on Sunday and then come here on Monday and lie about fist rolling.

I have never seen anyone double pump on the "Cougars" part. If you are doing 8 fist pumps total in lieu of 1 fist roll and a fist pump, I think that might be an interesting variation.

We should meet up at a game and I can show you how I do my version. Or, if you are on skype, add me as a contact and I can show you today.
