BYU. As one who counts myself among the loyal, strong, and true wearing the white and blue I will be cheering for the Cougars of BYU.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostI was wondering what team you will be cheering for in the BYU/TCU contest? This similarities you pointed out earlier are curious to me.

I still can't get used to the changes in the fight song. I still sing "stalwart men and true." There are a few other changes that I notice each time the words are on the board but I have yet to adopt them.Originally posted by YOhio View PostBYU. Do you guys sing the updated version? I think I subconsciously enjoy the sexism in the older version.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Because TCU won't feel anything, kind of like what a windshield feels when a gnat smashes into it?Originally posted by Clark Addison View PostCompletely agree. It is "new" compared to what we used to sing when I was a student there. The changes are not dramatic, but they are noticeable. Unfortunately, the fist roll is still alive and well.Originally posted by Art Vandelay View PostThere's a new version? <J Carson voice> I did not know that.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

There is no chance whatsoever that BYU beats TCU or Utah this year. The only real question is can they hold either offense under 500 yards and stay within 30 points of either. I doubt it.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostThat would not be good for the Utes. They need to beat a top 5 team.

Still sing the older version. Here are the words as I learned them back in 1988 as a freshman:Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI still can't get used to the changes in the fight song. Rise all loyal Cougars
And hurl your challenge to the foe
We will fight day or night
Rain or snow
Stalwart men and true
Wear the white and blue
As we sing get set to spring
Come on Cougars its up to you
So rise and shout
The Cougars are out
Along the trail to fame and glory
Rise and Shout
Our cheers will ring out
As we unfold our victory story
On we go to vanquish the foe
For alma maters sons and daughters
As we join in song
In praise of you
Our faith is strong
We'll raise our colors high in the blue
And cheer the Cougars of BYU
I always use "we" everywhere because that's how I learned it but I guess the official words use "you". I also use "As we sing" but the official words say "While we sing". Don't know why I learned it wrong - but I'm stubborn and refuse to change.

I always thought you were more in the age range of myself, YOhio, Niku, Donut. I didn't realize that you were more the SU, 71, LAUte range.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostIt is "new" compared to what we used to sing when I was a student there. This is exactly what I sing. We were definitely taught "As we sing get set to spring" (not THAT, sickos).Originally posted by BigFatMeanie View PostStill sing the older version. Here are the words as I learned them back in 1988 as a freshman:

Do we have the lyrics to the new version? It doesn't really matter because I won't ever sing them, but it would be nice to see them, I suppose.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.
