I would be pretty shocked to hear otherwise.

As I said before, I've never heard of a specific message from LS to all his schools about BYU. But, I know for a fact that Utah has been asked to marginalize the Holy War. As a result, it's not PC for other schools to schedule BYU right now. Schools that normally would - of which Oregon is not one.

That really has very little to do with what you wrote here:

You said that "obviously" ticket price is a determinant of fan loyalty. I think you are wrong. In fact, I am sure you are wrong.
      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I didn't say ticket price was a determinant of fan loyalty; to the contrary, you are going to have fans of equal loyalty make different decisions regarding game attendance depending on ticket prices. In other words, the fan of Team A may have the exact same feelings towards Team A as another fan has of Team B, but if tickets to Team A's games cost three times as much, then fan of team A is much less likely to go to a game than the fan of Team B.

Of course, it looks like, from skimming some of the posts here, that my anecdotal belief regarding prices may be a bit off, or we may not have complete info about actual prices available.

Depends which Walmart you go to. Walmart stores are either BYU or Utah stores depending on which 'market' the store is in. American Fork, Saratoga Springs & Cedar Hills stores are loaded with BYU gear that is restocked throughout the year, while Utah gear arrives in a couple small pulses throughout the year and is often completely non-existent. South Jordan, Sandy and Taylorsville stores are Ute stores with tons of Ute gear and no BYU stuff most of the year.

Walgreens stores are basically the same - one team or the other. Go in the front door and turn left, and you'll see what 'market' Walgreens management thinks you live in.

And Scheels - Scheels has stuff from both teams, but the selection of Ute gear puts BYU gear to absolute shame. I went to Scheels to try to buy a black-out jersey, but all I got when I asked about one was a chuckle and a comment that I was about the hundredth person to ask about black-out jerseys that evening...

Maybe we're being lied to right now and you're part of the conspiracy. Can't tell for sure.

                • So, regarding the lack of PAC 12 teams on the schedule, has everyone forgot the fact that Bronco said a few years back that he wanted to avoid scheduling them because of their referee rule? Maybe now he's getting his wish?

                      • Utes more concerned about Independence than Cougar fans. Cougar fans sure about a PAC-12 conspiracy. I'd say the rivalry is just fine.

Even with the obsession of scratch I can't imagine there is a ute fan more concerned about independence than I am.

Your facts are half correct. There is pressure on Utah's athletic department to put the Holy War on hold, but it is not from the PAC-12. It is from higher up in the administration at the University. And I can assure you that my two sources on the topic absolutely trump anything you think you have.

I should also add that the motivation has very little to do with marginalizing BYU. Much of you(or your sources) interpretation of the facts are spun to help BYU play the victim card.
