you'd have to guess there's some kind of optionality built in if we had a p5 conference invite

From what I remember, the contracts that I've seen had no cancellation fee if BYU was admitted to a P5 and gave at least one year notice.Originally posted by old_gregg View Postyou'd have to guess there's some kind of optionality built in if we had a p5 conference invite
I'm guessing that they're trying to reschedule games as much as possible rather than just outright cancel them. I remember hearing somewhere that their new Big 12 brethren were also willing to take on some of the nonconference games that BYU can't keep."I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I would think that is reference to a home-and-home series, hence the remaining home-and-home element of the UVA contract was easily nullified. But I doubt that would apply where BYU stil owes or would still owe the other school a visit (as will be the case with Arkansas).Originally posted by Moliere View Post

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

No guesswork necessary. There is an express cancellation clause that allows BYU to cancel if they get in.Originally posted by old_gregg View Postyou'd have to guess there's some kind of optionality built in if we had a p5 conference invite

But to mbn's point above, per the end of section 3B, cancelation due to P5 invite is only free and clear if the series is cancelled. If one of the games has already been played, at a minimum the second game has to he rescheduled at a mutually agreeable time. So if that same language is in the Ark contract, we probably end up playing at Arkansas in 2023. Right?Originally posted by Pelado View Post

I've been watching more Big-XII football this year than usual because of the invite. Kansas really is the only bad team in the conference. I am preparing for .500 conference record the first couple of years. A light non conference would be great. If BYU plays Arkansas in 2023, I kind of hope the other FBS team is a cupcake.

I don't want us to cancel a Tennessee visit to Provo. Not easy to get SEC teams to go west of the Central Time Zone. First year is going to be difficult but if we end up with both Tennessee and Arkansas on the non-conference schedule I'm ok with that.Originally posted by USUC View PostI've been watching more Big-XII football this year than usual because of the invite. This is the alpha way to look at this. Play the best schedule you can. But I'm weak stomached right nowOriginally posted by Omaha 680 View Post

Oh I have my limits. That's why I said ditch the Utah State game in 2023. First because @Utah State is a little more of a challenge than I want for our third non-conference game and second because two of our non-conference games need to be home games.Originally posted by USUC View Post

@DaytonRobison @mmoss_10 @PolarisMan17 @boise_edits @BSUbluNorange @BleedBlueGoug One more game with them and then done...for now. They have been awesome to work with. Challenging for them as an independent. Utah and Utah State also important to their base. I have hope we can get a H/H in future bu…
