    2) Getting into the playoff will be more likely as an independent than as a member of the MWC.

It would be fun to be involved in the discussion, but while I can take the bullying I receive from an elelment on this board, I decided it isn't worth having my family dragged through the mud by these bullies. Therefor I will leave it to guessing what I think on the subject.

I do think a likely target for BYU is the holiday bowl, with which it has a history and whose ties to the PAC 12 and Big 12 seem to be deteriorating. It wasn't that long ago that the holiday bowl featured the PAC 10 #2 v. the Big 12 #3. It's something like #3 and #5 now, right?

I wonder if the deals with the poinsettia bowl are somehow related to discussions with the holiday bowl.
I am not sure where you show ties deteriorating. The conferences moved the higher ranked team to a bowl that paid more, Alamo $3.1 vs Holiday $2.075.

That's exactly where I show ties deteriorating. With the Holiday Bowl falling down the pecking order, are bowl officials going to be so concerned about preserving their relationship and affiliation with the conferences that they wouldn't ask about adding an option to take BYU in their contracts?

For a big time bowl that would be fine. The lure of the Vegas or the bowl in San Diego for me is to get away from the crappy weather here and take advantage of it at those places.

Since you live in the good weather or at least OK weather all winter long I see how missing one good day is a non-event.
1:30 on a Saturday is primo. I don't see how that ruins a day. In actuality, it gives you another day if you take Friday off. Here's a proposed itinerary for you (and your kids, if you can convince them to hang out with you):

          Thursday
5:00 pm - Leave work with bags packed and ready to go. Drive to Las Vegas or leave on a jet plane.
11:00 p.m. - Check into Marriott time share

          Friday
          9:00 a.m. - Golf
2:00 p.m. - Watch other people drink and gamble

          Saturday
          7:30 a.m. - Golf
          12:00 p.m. - Head to football game
          1:31 p.m. - Purchase $60 seats for $15 (miss kickoff)
          1:36 p.m. - Enjoy remaining 58:14 of football game
6:00 p.m. - Watch other people drink and gamble
11:30 p.m. - Swing by Vons for Capri-Sun drinks as well as bread, bologna, Kraft singles, and other sandwich supplies
11:49 p.m. - Swing by gas station to fill up tank and grab some mustard packets for sandwiches
11:59 p.m. - return to Marriott time share room

          Sunday
          9:00 a.m. - Wake up and study scriptures/PH lesson
11:00 a.m. - Attend full 3-hour block of local ward
2:00 a.m. - Drive home, eating only homemade sandwiches and stopping no more than once to fill up

I drove back to Provo after a UNLV game with a classmate. I didn't understand why he didn't want anything at the Wendy's until my wife pointed out that not only was it Sunday, it was Fast Sunday.

The Holiday Bowl is out of the question for the foreseeable future. It's back to the PAC #2 (after the playoff teams are off the table) and a new deal with the Big10. Unfortunate. Having two bowls in a western location under their control that was a good opportunity for a tiered structure.

              • No Notre Dame on the schedule from 2014 - 2016. Also, apparently ND doesn't have an away game spot open until 2022.

I thought ND to LES was a done deal. Part of the 2-1. Was it a 2 for 1 and the 1 was an open date?

Don't get me wrong, I am not knocking Independence or our great upcoming schedules, just wondering about ND.

I'm sure this is wrong because Notre Dame is our partner. They wouldn't do that to us.

Yep, so you can all just shut the fuck up now.

Granted my source on the no away game openings is from Twitter, so there is that.

Before the PC guys on here jump you. I think you meant, Swarbrick said nothing has changed. So all of you can quit worrying.

                              Hi Blue Coogs,

Red Coog here. I thought we were going to Provo on Sept 27. But today on Football Scoop, we posted a want ad for a home football game on Sept 20 or 27.

Has the 2014 Houston-BYU game been moved to another weekend? Postponed to another year? Cancelled?
Hopefully BYU is working to add a game of interest to the schedule.
