Oh... I was referring to New Mexico State's future schedules. My point is, who cares about NMSU.

BYU indy schedule will be better than NMSU or a BYU MWC schedule.

      Agreed.

I think you could be wrong there, but it would depend on what BYU did with its OOC games in the MWC.

        • I don't see how NMSU's crazy good scheduling diminishes BYU any. I live in the state and could care less about NMSU, just like everybody else who lives here.

Not everything is an argument for returning to the MWC.
I think, perhaps, the only person who hates BYU fans more than ute fans hate BYU fans, is Bronco Mendenhall.

I live in NM too. There are more NMSU grads in my neck of the woods than UNM. To be perfectly honest, nobody cares about either school. College football is not a big deal to New Mexicans, the NFL is far-and-away king.

              Interesting, thanks for elaborating.

You missed the point. BYU's independent schedule (to me at least) isn't that compelling, and NMSU has put together a similar one in less time. Does it matter to me that people think NMSU stinks? Not really, that doesn't make BYU's exhibition season more meaningful.
First of all, BYU doesn't play Idaho, they play Idaho State, and it's a home game, not a road game.

Second, I disagree with your rankings as set forth below:

              Home games:
Georgia Tech is definitely a better team and/or draw than UTEP
MTSU is probably on par with Rice as a team - neither are anything to write home about
Idaho State is not as good as Idaho - again, neither are anything to write home about

              Road games:
Wisconsin is a better team and/or draw than UCLA - this isn't basketball
Virginia may be on par with UNM as a team, but is a more attractive draw

I also reserve the right to further disagree with the rankings later.

Third, NMSU's ability to schedule games is unimpaired by their opposition's concern about losing games. If they can get bowl eligible while continuing with similar scheduling, I think independence will be just fine for them. Good for them.

I see BYU's foray into independence as successful if they can continue to schedule quality games both home and away (like in 2013) and win enough of them to be ranked in the top 25 most years. If they can't schedule well enough, then the interest will drop. If they don't win enough, the interest will drop and they may be left without an ESPN (or similar) renewal.

The unbalanced scheduling BYU has agreed to in the future makes this nearly impossible.

It's better than byus first Indy schedule.

I like that the Nevada series is a 2-for-1. But you're right, the unbalanced scheduling they've already put in place makes it harder.

                    • I am a big fan of the upcoming schedule. As I have mentioned I will be buying tickets again this year because of one thing, we play good games at LES this coming year.

Along with that as I expected, ticket prices are going up. I don't mind and am willing to pay for a better product. I would be interested in the comparison with say Utah. 40 yard line half way up, $600 per ticket. What is that going to cost you at RES?

Lastly, please, please don't let me hear that awful horseshit coming out of anyone's mouth about how BYU is different. They, like everyone else will squeeze out every last dime they think they can.

We had a thread earlier that showed once you factor in Cougarclub/Crimson club that BYU is much higher per ticket than Utah. Not sure the exact number.

was that before or after the P12?

71, how much is that above years before?

That was based on 2013 ticket prices. I will try to find the link.

I didn't buy last year so I have to go on what my brother told me. I know the year before they were $500 per seat. He said last year was the same. This year is $600 per seat unless we want to go to the East side and then pay $750 a seat.

My one brother might do that because he is only buying one seat this year and his son is on the East side. I will probably buy his other one so I will have 3. Besides the CC dues, that is another $2,250 and I know there is one game I will have to give the seats away.
