Let's be honest. Only 5 of those games are compelling (Texas, Utah, Boise, Wisconsin, ND). The other 7 aren't anything special. Better than NMSU, sure, but not as interesting to me as needing to beat, say, Colorado State in November to keep pace for 1st in conference.

Maybe. But if we were in the Big 12, our season wouldn't be over when we lose in week 2. Actually, that's not fair to the 2013 schedule. It will be a dogfight to be bowl eligible next year, so maybe that'll provide some excitement.

Will you complain if we aren't playing in the Fight Hunger bowl next year? Or will 5-7 be alright with you, comfortable with the moral victory of being defeated by Texas, ND, etc?

What a silly argument. I don't want to play the bottom 1/3 of crappy leagues. I want to play an entire conference slate, the good and the bad.

While you're in this fantasy land, make believe that 8 of the teams BYU is playing next year are part of a conference with BYU. Then make believe that BYU needs to lose one or fewer conference games to win the conference championship. Then make believe that if they win the conference they get to go to some piss-poor bowl against a subpar opponent -- just like they used to in the MWC.

Yep, I like winning. For example: 2006-2009 seasons.

I can't wait to watch you polish the 5-7 turd next season. It will be the crowning jewel of your message board career.

Wherever you post your cognitively dissonant 2013 posts, I will be reading and enjoying.

I'd love to have schedules like this coming year on a recurring basis. It will probably mean fewer wins than 2006-2009. I think I'm mature enough to deal with that.

                    • Nice schedule. Well done to Tom and the boys. Now go and get us in a good conference.

Where's the dissonance? The schedule is a very good one in terms of quality of opposition. BYU will in all likelihood get the shit kicked out of it because their offense will still not be up to snuff, primarily due to the SOS, QB and OL, just like the last couple of years.

Sorry to disappoint you, but 2013 seems to be the highwater mark. The schedules beyond will not be as impressive.

My only minor complaint is the crummy home shedule in November for the second year in row. I just can't travel to road games like I have in the past. It's a bit of a bummer having my live football attendance end so early. Overall, this schedule is very impressive and I've been very critical of independence potential schedules.
