lol it wasn't a road win.

BSU in 2010 is reminding me of BYU back in 1984. History is about to repeat itself.

BYU came off a decent season with a big bowl win over Missouri. It was a close bowl game and the last second trick play was what sealed the victory for BYU and propelled them up in the polls for the next year. Granted they were replacing Young with Bosco but they had a decent team coming back in 1984 poised to make another run. However, it wasn't just the 1983 Holiday Bowl and the 1984 undefeated season that won the NC, but the momentum that started in the late 70s and many of those 1 or 2 loss seasons. People make fun of BYU's weak schedule and lousy bowl opponent from 1984, but they fail to recognize the NC was not won in one season, but instead was won over several years with 1984 being the pinnacle year when it all came together.

BSU just came off a BCS bowl win against a TCU team that most thought could have beaten anyone in the country. They've had an incredible run with a couple undefeated seasons. They've beat some good teams in thrilling fashion (OU and TCU in the Fiesta Bowl, VaTech last night, Oregon twice, etc.). If BSU goes undefeated this year it would be a crime to keep them out of the national championship game. They deserve a chance to win it even more than BYU did back in 1984.

If BSU does go to the NC game, I will be cheering for them. It would be nice to see BSU and BYU as the only schools from small conferences to win a National Championship, which is somthing that Utah has never done and never will be able to do.

As a fan of Boise State Fan (Younger Brother was an All American for them).. I have always been irked by the Utah and BYU fans who try and belittle them. This team has done nothing but win and win consistently over the last decade and still no respect. They have done their best to schedule good teams but tougher teams do not want to play them.. I see this nothing mroe then Big Brother (Utah and BYU fans) not liking the fact their little brother has outshinned them as he (BSU) has matured..

Some have called their offense "Gimmicky". Nothing is farther from the truth. They are a sound team who plays a good running game and passing game. They scored on some power runs last night as well. I would say they are no more "Gimicky" then Utah's "Spread Offense" which I would say is a gimmick offense. People bring this up due to their win against Oklahoma but that whole game was a sound offense up until the end when they were going for broke.. They look like the old gutsy BYU teams where they set up the pass with some good formations and running plays. They play sound defense across the board. All they have done is shown up for the big games and won (Has BYU and Utah done that as consistently??). They have winning records against BYU and Utah and some fans still try and knock them..

Give them their credit and get over the fact they have the lime light....

And PUHLEASE SU. That was a road game.. Did you even look at the stadium shots??

At least for the haters, BSU will be banished to the .mtn next year so we most likely won't even see highlights of them on SportsCenter, let alone actually watch a game of theirs.

I also agree that calling their offense gimicky is lame. They play by the same rules as everyone else. I wonder how many people called Lavell's offense gimicky because he threw the ball downfield.

I don't see a ton to be jealous of (other than 2 BCS wins) but they are worthy of admiration or at the very least they are worthy of a healthy does of respect.

This isn't so much a question for you Niku because I have noticed that you are not alone in your BSU hate. It just baffles me though.
The success and rate with which Boise's success came is very similar to BYU in the 1970s-80s. If anything, BSU's run from 2004-present is more impressive than BYU's (although it really lacks in producing marquee NFL players and all-Americans at the rate BYU did). I don't think that's undeniable. I think you see a similar parallel in hoops with Utah vis-a-vis Gonzaga. I know a lot of Utah fans can't stand Gonzaga because they've (rightfully and long ago) replaced Utah as the premier team in the nation outside the six power conferences.

It comes from the fact that Utah and BYU haven't beat BSU when they've played.

This is why I am disappointed they have joined the MWC. But then again. The joined when BYU was still there.. I am not sure they would of jumped knowing BYU was gone as well.. The I doubt Nevada or Fresno St. would of jumped..

I am sure they were beating their heads against the wall when they found out BYU was leaving as well..

My only hope is that The Mtn is going to die soon.. And the MWC will have to come (Tail between their legs) back to ESPN begging for a contract.. And I hope BSU and TCU use their clout to make it happen...

I like BSU. I got so sick of hearing about how TCU was unbeatable that I cheered for BSU in the bowl game.

But I hate, hate, hate the blue turf.

This is probably what happens. BYU's leaving the MWC will help keep BSU from falling into a pit of obscurity, and TCU from falling further.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Blue turf sucks but they are a very very fun team to cheer for. They are in my top five favorites in college football for sure.

I think you're onto something there. They lucked out in scheduling Utah and BYU when they just happened to be down.

Frankly, I don't hate BSU, but I admit to some jealousy. This love affair that the national media has with BSU drives me nuts. In some respects, I think Utah is a victim of their own success. They beat the snot out of Alabama wire to wire, but all people remember is how Boise squeaked past Oklahoma with some nifty trickeration and a wedding proposal. A win is a win, but you gotta hand it to them Broncs: they win with style (something they showed again last night).

The good news is that last night I realized that, come next year, I don't have live with such petty jealousies anymore.
