      Me neither.

But I guarantee you he at least gets a phone call from Ann Arbor.

Makes a lot of sense. Come in and provide some stability to the program. Hand it off in a few years.

Would be cool if he took a lot of staff and players with him.

        • Whit calls it.

As I said in my fantasy football text string:

Great Coach. Incredible BYU alumnus. Total effing prick.

Me neither. Utah can't afford the buyout in order to fire him. I think he probably wants to entertain other offers as you suggest.

Nothing in any of the official statements has used the word "retire". They all says something like "stepping down".

Did they spend the $500mm already?

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. • He had written in his contract that when he stepped down, he would retain a advisor or consulting title in the athletic department. Retiring as a state employee has a very specific meaning. You can't retire and stay on as a state employee in another capacity.

LOL! I an told that this $500mm needs to be VERY carefully used in order to have a chance that UofU sports don't end up at a pawn shop down the road?

That is a good point. If he stays on in an advisory position with some sort of continued compensation, he is not really retired. Also, you make a good point about the possibility of not wanting to run afoul of "double-dipping" laws for public employees. Not sure his employment contract necessarily applies to those laws, but it could be.

That would be super weird. What would be the point after all he has done?

Accumulate more years of service in the Utah retirement system so as to bilk the Utah taxpayers for even more cash?

                            Never mind. Don't answer.
