Surprised to not see more about this situation on here. Wait. No I’m not..

Very sad situation all around. I feel for his wife and 3-kids. He put them in this situation for having an affair. Then feel for him as words spreads after all of this came out that he was having a mental breakdown from all of it. Reports of self harm in front of his wife. Then he goes to the house of the staffer the staff-person he had an affair with and threatens to self-harm again but includes her as well.

Also, pretty shady for the AD to hold off firing until right after signing day where all these kids get locked in. Word is this was purposeful.

Which makes no sense, because now those kids have a 30 day window to back out of the NLI.

It's also a dumb plan in general because as soon as you fire the coach all the new signees are allowed to leave anyway.

But then, if other programs do it, then they probably will have to do it too. It's a classic prisoner's dilemma situation: even if everyone would be worse off if PE gets involved, they'll probably all end up doing it anyway.
I have had this same thought recently. I am wondering if Utah sort of just said "Okay, to hell with it, let's just go ahead and blow this shit up" in hopes of accelerating action as a byproduct of this PE venture.

Nobody is effectively in control or in charge of college athletics, so therefore the money is. The PE route is a distasteful nuclear option that many other proud programs, which lack high-roller donors, might be happy that Utah went ahead and just crossed the line into. It got a lot of attention, including from politicians. If politicians take up the issue, there is no telling what the end result of any legislation might look like, but perhaps part of Utah's calculus was that it could result in meaningful controls being codified and a structure enacted that will end the arms race that is college FB and BB spending sooner rather than later.

I thought I read somewhere that a uofutah official acknowledged the risk of this venture, but also noted there is risk in doing nothing. I also heard a podcast interview of Keith Nellesen, cofounder of VIvint, who is pretty bullish on this step. He noted Vivint's positive experience with PE and noted that PE doesn't come in unless it sees a very secure return on investment.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

              • Ummmm, what the hell!?!? They kept FSU out of the playoff a couple years ago because their QB got hurt.

BYU is ready to step in.

                          • Kyle lost 3 straight to BYU and hasn't beat them this decade. Goes out a huge loser.

There are lots of blue colors. Are you thinking, say, navy blue or powder blue?
