Yurachek said Miami and Notre Dame were close enough in the rankings this week to be compared head-to-head, and in the same pool as Alabama and one-loss BYU.

Still, the committee feels Notre Dame "is a complete team," according to Yurachek, and "deserves to be ranked where they are."

This is the same sport that used to crown a champ based on popular media vote. It has always been a beauty contest. It has always been about the 'pageantry.' I kind of think that the fact that the playing field of CFB is so uneven and there are such gaps between the "haves" and the "have nots" that creates such drama, is why there is such a broad interest in CFB. If CFB became a sort of 'mini-NFL' then it loses some of that element and the novelty around it. an imperfect analogy might be if you make WWE fight for real, it just becomes the UFC, but with more theatrics? at any rate, my point is that CFB will never be 'fair' and drama that attracts is part of the reason that it maintains its allure. It does suck to be on the side of the fence that misses out though. Even dumb Ute fans like me can empathize with that.

Texas A&M doesn't have a single win against a team from the top half of the SEC. Texas is in fact the only team in the top 8 of the current SEC standings that A&M has even played. And they lost.

Being undefeated is one thing, but if the committee now doesn't drop them significantly it will invite a lot of controversy.

I think I’m about done with college football, except BYU. The conferences are too big, including the Big 12. It is tough to get a clear conference champion when the tie breakers to get into the game are so ridiculous.

They killed off all traditions and many natural rivalries, with all the west coast teams in the B1G and the ACC.

The twelve team playoff is a joke where the SEC potentially gets 5 teams in. At this point they might as well go to 24 teams and water down the regular season where 3 loss teams and some years probably 4 loss teams get in. You will probably start seeing teams resting players for the last game or two on the season like you see in the NFL.

The dumbest thing they have done is having the weekly committee rankings. It biases the process to pre-season rankings. It locks them into positions before the full body of work is done. Because if they make any changes based on anything but the direct results of the week, it makes them look dumb. So any previous screw ups are set in stone.They shouldn’t be meeting until conference championship weekend.

There is my rant for the day.

The conferences are too big. I'd still like to expand the playoffs to move towards the March Madness model. No, I don't think there should be 64 teams.

24 teams would be great. Top 8 get a first round bye and 16 teams play a first round game. 10-game regular season. No conference championship. First round games happen Friday and Saturday after TG.

That’s a lot fewer games, over 200 less. I doubt any conference or team goes for a 10 game season.

I’m guessing only teams that lose money on games would. maybe that’s most.
