And you guys are both a little late as well

Honestly, probably until Heaps either shows that he is ready to take the reigns full time, or until he shows that he isn't ready.

2-QB system means coach is a pussy. Either too much of a pussy to sit the older player down and say, "kid, you need to move to safety" or too much of a pussy to sit the younger player down and say, "I know your mom says your the best but you aren't yet." The problem is, I don't think Bronco is a pussy. He is a lot of things that aren't positive but he is not a pussy. Therefore, I think the 2-QB system announcement is a sham. Coach is trying to force UW to prepare for two opposite QBs. I don't really know who "the guy" is going to be but I think Bronco has one and doesn't want to tip his hand ... either that or he is a pussy in disguise.

But you can't sit Nelson down and move him to another position because there's no viable back up (apparently). Lark and Munns weren't even in the race. So now that you know you have to have Nelson in at least for back up, what do you do? You've got a back up who's potentially better prepared (more experienced) than the supposed starter... and things get complicated.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I think you are wrong. Coach wants to cultivate his culture and reward Nelson.

And why does the position change to safety always come up? As if safety is just a position for couldn't-hack-it quarterbacks.

Another one of my beefs with Mendenhall.

I think it is clear that Lark would be serviceable as a back-up. He was not truly that far behind either of them. Truth is, if this was a horse race, you could have covered them all with a large persian rug at the finish.

Then sit Heaps down and say that. Don't say 2-QB system. Make a decision that the culture demands a Junior over a freshman if they are close in effectiveness or say the culture demands a Junior over a freshman no matter what.

Safety because of his size and build. I don't know if you are aware but certain body types play certain positions in football.

Yeah cultivating culture is a bullshit concept. Lets cultivate wins. That said, I've stopped (tried to stop) getting hung up on what Bronco says. I think he loves to talk like a close-minded, self-righteous, old fashioned hard ass, but it might be just for show.

That's why I hope the larger consideration is to get Jake fully prepared before he takes over completely.

I don't know if it's a bullshit concept, but when you have obviously better talent (as has been the case at certain positions in the past) not getting into the game because the fanatical effort kid Bronco loves is in the game then I have a problem. You put the best on the field to win. Winning is what matters. Not making Rudy feel good by playing him. I do agree that I think what Bronco says and thinks are two different things.

I think he has already said that, hasn't he? It seems that's why people see this as "Heaps delayed" more than a 2-QB thing that is going to run for some indefinite period of time. That's why I said early on that if it was Nelson, he would have just named him the outright starter. The culture leans toward experience, paying your dues, seniority, blah, blah, blah. If Nelson was actually the guy AND had all this going for him, there would be no reason for the 2-QB thing at the outset, and I don't think Bronco would have any hesitation to name him the starter. But I don't think he's the guy -- he's just a stop-gap until the acutal guy is ready, and to a certain extent I don't think you lose much by pursuing this route, because I really think we're going 2-2 in the first 4 regardless of QB situation.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

It's hard enough watching this approach with one team, let alone two. Where is Keith McLeod right now, Jerry?

Agreed. Nevada is a trap game.

                            • Nevada is a gimme for the same reason AFA is, the way to beat their option attack is with solid assignment sound football which also happens to be BYU's defensive philosophy and biggest strength.

AFA seems to be able to hang a lot better with TCU and Utah because their defenses that rely a lot more on athleticism and making plays aren't suited as well for an option attack.

I dont get how we are so negative for UW. The advantage that UW has is on offense, most of their D is new, and their D sucked last year. Our D is improved from all indications.
