    • I believe in Willie. Oregon already has a swagger they haven't had in years. Talent gaps in places will take some time to fill, but they are going to fun to watch on the climb back up.

      • Nebraska will be visiting Autzen this Saturday. I expect a close game but think the Ducks will prevail at home. Nebraska could not put away Arkansas St. last week and the game went down to the final play after a late TD and onside kick recovery. Fortunately for the Cornhuskers, Tanner Mangum wasn't throwing the game's final pass into the endzone. Nebraska looked solid on offense but they were lining up against a less talented opponent. Obviously, that will not be the case against Oregon. Nebraska appears to have issues on defense after switching to a 3-4 and losing a lock-down CB to injury. So I think Nebraska will score some points but will be out-scored by Oregon in a high-scoring game that will be decided late.

This game will I think correctly align my expectations for this years Duck team. They should have won in Lincoln last year if they had a coach that understood basic game strategy, so they should win at home. If Oregon covers the continually growing line, opened at Oregon -5 now up to Oregon -14, I could be so drunk of Taggart's Kool Aid that my expectations for this season will get all out of whack.

            • Ducks are going to win this game, but they're certainly giving Nebraska opportunities to come back. A better team would take advantage of Oregon's lack of offense in the second half. Like, say, last year's Nebraska team.

A better team wouldn't get behind by 4 TDs in the first half. I expected a high scoring game but didn't expect either team to get that kind of a lead. At least Nebraska made it respectable in the end which is all Husker fans can really hope for at this point. The final score may keep HFN's expectations for the Ducks in check. I do wish Oregon best of luck the remainder of the season. I think the Duck's next game in Laramie will be tougher than many might expect.

No it didn't, if anything it fanned the flames. They showed in the first half what they can do when everything is clicking. The defense got 4 turnovers and held Nebraska to 2/13 on 3rd down, that's better than they've been against FCS opponents the last 2 years defensively. Following a really good Nebraska drive to start the second half with a score, Oregon went 3 and out and then Herbert made a bad decision and threw into triple coverage for a pick, the coaching staff panicked and started just trying to hold on. Tag just needed to follow his own advice and keep climbing instead of trying to hold on. I've never made a thread title that has been more on point. He'll do better and the defense will continue improving. This team will go 9-3.

Maybe the Ducks "had [have] a coach that understood [understands] basic game strategy". Oregon won by "hanging on" in the second half. In two games, Nebraska has given up 68 points in the first half and 10 in the second. Seems like a good strategy to defeat Nebraska is to climb in the first half and hold on in the second since the Blackshirts seem to disappear until after halftime.

                    • Enjoyed reading this article by an Oregon reporter:

                      http://www.oregonlive.com/sports/ore...n_john_canzano

"In the fourth quarter with 2:17 left Nebraska was down one touchdown and had the ball at its own 43-yard line. I stood on the Huskers sideline, turned, looked up, and scanned the faces of the Ducks fans in the stadium. Then, I looked at the Nebraska fans.

                      Same scared look.

It was like looking at 58,000 nervous parents. Some of the Nebraska fans wore giant corn-cob-like hats. Still, they folded their arms, and managed to look like responsible and nervous elders. It was like the entire stadium shared one family car and had loaned it to a teenager, who hadn't called and was running 30 minutes late."

Also, thought this was a good summary:

"Figuring out who these teams are and where they're traveling this season is going to take a larger sample size. That is indisputable. As much as the world would like to make immediate sense of Taggart's trajectory, you just can't do that after two games. As much as some would like to write off Riley and the Huskers, you can't do that, either. We're only beginning to understand what's at play here."

You are talking about the UTAH game and yet there is no thread for BYU's game this week? Sad.
