We can not stand that Utah is going to the Pac-10 so lets go out and blow hundreds of millions just to keep up with a team who has a smaller fan base, less tradition and dick head fans.
Good call SU you have BYU pegged once again. If you don't like your job, you don't strike! You just go in every day, and do it really half assed. That's the American way. - Homer

I'm also glad that Utah rode the coattails of BYU over the last 30 years to get to where they are....makes me sleep better at night.

so you admit it and admit the focus is on some sort of elation you feel at finally, FINALLY, being at or above BYU's level, in your mind? Thats' really sort of sad. Did BYU kick sand in your face in front of your girlfriend when you were a scrawny kid?Originally posted by Top Ute View PostThat strawman is filled with a heapin' pile of comeuppance.PLesa excuse the tpyos.

That doesn't make any sense. Can you have your copy editor read your posts first please?

A couple of thoughts:
(1) I think it is clear Utah leaving the MWC has precipitated much of BYU's current movement.
(2) I think it is equally clear that the reason is not what Utah fans, as a population, believe.
This is not about BYU feeling like they have to keep up. This is about the tie that kept BYU in the MWC being severed. BYU and Utah have voted as a block and worked as a team for years. Plans were in place for BYU and Utah to continue to work together as a team. Those plans were disrupted by Utah going to the Pac-10. Now that the tie to the MWC is severed, BYU has had to start looking for their own best interest without concern for anyone else and that has resulted in the current exploration of independence and the continued discussions with the Big XII. This isn't about BYU jealousy or desire to play catchup. Truthfully, an independent BYU will make more profit over the next 5 years than a Pac-12 Utah. This is about BYU no longer feeling tied to the MWC and its poor payouts. The MWC has been an anchor around the necks of BYU, Utah, and TCU because the bottom tier schools don't care to make any effort.

i think he is actually talking about the games in the 20's where byu didn't field a team and utah played provo high. i think they were on byu's level then. other than the 30 year gap between 1970 and 2002, y'all have definitely been on byu's level!Originally posted by RedSox View PostIf some time = the last 4.5 years, then I agree.Te Occidere Possunt Sed Te Edere Non Possunt Nefas Est.

It was becoming a little less obvious 3 of the last 4 years. Thanks for clearing it up for everyone.Originally posted by Top Ute View PostOh, we've been at or above your level for some time.
