BYU, the genesis of many teams' offenses (i would say contributory to a majority of them) right now, has no tradition? byu, who had eight heisman finalists in 11 years?Originally posted by Portland UteBYU's is slightly better

Stop eating the mushrooms that grow on cow dung in Oregon. Slightly?Originally posted by Portland Ute View PostI never claimed Utah to have great tradition. Nor a national fanbase. Nor 14 million fans world-wide.
I don't think Utah has anything more than an above average tradition at this point. BYU's is slightly better.
See, I can admit BYU has a better tradition. Can you, cj, ever admit that Utah is better at something or in a better position?
Why the name calling? YOu don't even know me, man.
If it makes you feel any better, I think BYU comes out of this in a better position than they were in 2 weeks ago. I think BYU lands on it's feet. I see why BYU did what they did. I feel bad about all the collateral damage, but since Utah's not part of the scorched earth, I really don't care that much.

Why is it difficult for some BYU fans to admit that the timing of this move to independence was directly related to Utah's invite? I'm not saying it started when Utah was invited or even started when BCS conference realignment got started earlier this year, but why is it so hard to admit that Utah's departure signaled the right time to move? If independence was in the works, which it obviously was for a long time, than it's simply logical timing and made perfect sense before reaching the Sept. 1st deadline.
I couldn't care less what Utah fans feel about BYU's decision so for BYU fans to feel insecure about the decision simply because of what they are hearing from Utah fans is silly IMO. Make your decision based on how you feel this will end up for BYU, not because your Ute coworkers tell you it's doomed to fail.

I'd argue tradition is mostly just good for momentum going forward (and some fabulous smile-to-your-face memories). The U's doing fine on momentum so I don't know where you're going with this.Originally posted by RedSox View PostStop eating the mushrooms that grow on cow dung in Oregon. Slightly?

BYU's move had everything to do with Utah's move. No way does independence look good next to a MWC with TCU, Utah, and BSU, and an almost certain auto-bid. However, that situation changed, so BYU acted.Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostWhy is it difficult for some BYU fans to admit that the timing of this move to independence was directly related to Utah's invite? That's very different from saying BYU is trying to keep up with Utah, which is SU's implication. At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

I think its clear that we wouldn't be going anywhere if Utah were still in the MWC. But I don't think the potential move to independence has anything to do with an attempt to one-up the Utes or even just keep from losing ground .Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostWhy is it difficult for some BYU fans to admit that the timing of this move to independence was directly related to Utah's invite? And SU isn't alone in that as a Ute fan. My contention as a BYU fan is to turn off all of the white noise and wait for the end game in all of this. We are truly the "NOW!" generation and if we don't see immediate results in this realtime media environment we all start freaking out.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostBYU's move had everything to do with Utah's move.
