Big 12 conference play is here!
After leaving the MWC following the 2010 season, BYU football wandered in the wilderness for a dozen years. Nothing lasts forever, though, and the Cougars take on the Jayhawks as conference opponents this Saturday in Lawrence.
This is not your father’s (or your) Kansas football team. Led by standout QB Jalon Daniels, they come into Saturday’s contest with a 3-0 record and a top 20 FBS ranking in both total offense and total defense.
BYU is also undefeated on the season after securing a hard-earned road win at Arkansas last week. The Cougar defense seems rejuvenated under new DC Jay Hill, and the offense continues to find its way toward consistency.
The oddsmakers have Kansas as a 9.5-point favorite at the moment. Will BYU be clicking their heels and wishing for home, or will they push Kansas to the point of know return? Let’s go, Cougars!
Tidbit: Aloha really meant goodbye. BYU and Kansas last played over three decades ago when they met in the 1992 Aloha Bowl. BYU and fourth-string QB Tom Young fell to Kansas 20-23. It’s the only time the two teams have played prior to this weekend.
