That would be the A-11 Offense and it was founded in California. In my view it's an abomination.

They closed the loophole on it, didn't they? I don't think the formations are legal anymore.

Yes it was illegal as of last year.

I also think Oregon did it at one point with Dixon and Leaf as well.
Ok, that's fair. That's how I imagine it working with BYU. Outside of that I don't think it would be great. Washington did it several years ago with two guys that ended up in the NFL. Hobert and Brunell. I don't think Nelson is an NFL QB and it remains to be seen if Heaps is an NFL caliber player. However, they are different enough and we've seen the wildcat used effectively enough to believe it is possible that it can work in the Florida model if BYU wants to play both of them.

I still don't understand. Back when Nelson announced he was transferring to BYU after his mission, Goatnapper told me in the most colorful of terms that Nelson was not very talented, was just going to be an "insurance" backup QB, and was lucky BYU stooped to offer him a scholie. What's going on here?

Doman must be a heck of a coach.

IMO, its mainly because Lark and Munns haven't shown they can do anything. If either of them develop at all, Nelson drops to 3rd or 4th pretty quick.

I think that I thought the same thing Napper did. I just didn't express it the way he did. I think BYU was planning on Munns or Lark taking over this year but sometimes plans just don't work out. Both were very highly recruited coming out of high school. In all honesty, I am still not convinced Riley will be a good D-1 quarterback. I think he runs better than the average q.b. and can make some plays with his legs but having watched him many times I don't feel like he can make plays with his arm. Teams will stack the box and run man on the receivers because they won't respect his throwing ability. He is battling it out with a true freshman right now and can't really separate himself.

Ideally, you never want a true freshman at that position. As good as Jake is going to be (I think he is going to be really good BTW), he is going to have some major growing pains this year. Stepping in a playing Q.B. one year removed from High School is probably one of the hardest transitions to make in all of sports.

He really is actually. I personally think that Coach Doman is the most important asset BYU football has. I also think that Robert Anae will have to be shown the door this next season in order to promote Doman to OC. If they don't, they risk losing him. He is that good. I would almost put money on him being the next Head Coach at BYU.

I agree. I was just being snarky because LA keeps harping on the Nelson transfer. I worry that Doman is going to have to go somewhere else before he is able to come back and become the head coach. I just don't see Bronco pushing Anae out. Especially since he didn't make the call to hire him in the first place.

If he doesn't and Doman walks, that might be the worst thing that could happen to that program right now. Knowing what I know, I really feel like Doman is even more important to BYU football than Bronco is.

All right, I will stop now. I was just teasing the Napper man over what a sensitive nerve I touched back when it all happened. It's not that often I can get Goat so worked up.

Can anybody express anything like Napper?

I may be small, but I'm slow.

Out of curiosity, why do you think Doman is such a good coach & more important than Bronco? I'm not dialed in enough to have much of an opinion on the subject.
