I know 10-20 isnt very good, but there were quite a few drops. Foote dropped one that hit him between the numbers, McKay dropped a spot pass, Matt Marshall dropped one on a short crossing pattern, and Rhen Brown dropped a bullet on a comeback route.

Maybe I was alone but I left excited with what I saw. I didnt think Jake would be that far in his progression as a college QB this early in the year.
    You weren't alone.

Five dropped passes that hit receivers in the hand, three of them should have been easy catches two were entirely makable. So even if you allow for two drops, Jake should have had a 65% completion rate.

Nope, just make sure you keep those sunglasses on so the Mrs. doesn't catch your eyes wandering.

Now I just need someone to start a home alarm thread he chimes in on so I can find out what I'm up against.

I didn't go to the practice but the couple of people that i know that went and know football basically told me what you just posted about Heaps performance.

They're out. You just have to go to the beaches adjacent to the crappy hotels near the ends of the strip.

Which begs another question, why are Marshall and Brown lining up with the 1s? For that matter Foote as well.

                  • Drew said TE's and WR's were dropping passes all over the place again today. Bronco says it is a concern.

Can't be easy constantly switching between lefty/righty QB's.

I didn't but I believe statistics don't lie. If all of the receivers are having problems, then it is the QBs fault. If only one receiver kept dropping Heaps balls then I wouldn't be worried because that guy would fall down the depth chart but to indicate that there are a lot of balls that appear catchable by many different receivers but they aren't caught, that indicates a problem in delivery to me. It is the same rule that I apply for a PG in hoops, a setter in volleyball, or the converse for a pitcher in baseball.

That's very specious reasoning. It's even more specious than making conclusions about a QB's readiness 7 days into fall camp with a couple of dozen pass attempts under manufactured conditions and wildly vacillating personnel sets.

KDog Jerry Rice commented on a couple of occasions about the difficulty of switching between Young and Montana throwing him passes. Even in the fall camp the year after Montana left he brought up the adjustment of getting all of his passes with lefty-rotation, not righty-rotation.

To have to be dealing with that from set-to-set inside of a single practice can actually be disruptive for receivers.

Thanks, that is what I thought.

How well the QB responds to real games and how well the MLBs play will be the deciding factor. No way we go 6-6. I'm optimistic but I see 8-4 being the low with 10-2 not being out of the realm of possibility.
You really think the U of U is a tossup? We barely beat them last year when they had a true freshman QB and we had our winningest senior QB ever. U-Dub is less clear cut, but I think we're going to have serious trouble with Locker, just like we did last time.

                              I hope you're right.

The U keeps most of their offense, but they have some losses on defense. Its not like we're going up against the exact same team from last year with our brand new offense.

That being said, I think we lose to Utah.
