Pittsburgh is a great one. The downtown location for the Steelers and Pirates stadiums are pretty awesome. But no NBA hurts. There are so many great sports towns in America, but they all have some kind of drawback. Vegas is probably the most well rounded and one of the few destination towns.

Yes, I have a dream of a sports week of watching the Dodgers at PNC, the Broncos at Heinz, and the Knights at whatever the Penguins Place is called. I'll probably have to just settle for 1/3 of my teams and then just cheer for whoever is playing the Pitt teams.Originally posted by YOhio View Post

Saturday went to watch a couple holes of the Shriners open, 15 mins later I stopped by DTC and watched some friends play some pro Pickleball, 10 mins later I was in a sports book and caught a couple innings of the playoff and placed a couple bets, hour later I was walking into Allegiant.Originally posted by Donuthole View Post

Also caught the Ignite game with Wembanyama, out Mika, last week plus the Lakers were here as well.
Vegas is just built different.
In 4 days: G league, NBA basketball, PGA event, Pro Pickleball, NCAAF, not including the Raiders and the Knights that start soon and all the sports books where you can catch any sporting event in the world.

I think we disagree about what makes a great sports town. It sounds like the variety of offerings is what you like about Vegas.Originally posted by fusnik View Post

For me, it is all about the local environment: how much do the locals care about their teams and is there a palpable feeling as game day approaches. So, under that standard lots of cities beat Vegas: Pittsburgh (mentioned by others), Chicago, even Detroit.

I can tell you which one I would want to go visit.Originally posted by Donuthole View Post
I'd go with Pittsburgh right now, but as soon as LV adds an NBA and MLB team, it will be tough to beat.

Pittsburgh has, in a good year 10-15 big event days where there might be a buzz in the city. Chicago hasn’t had a big buzz game in years. Green Bay, the epitome of an NFL fan experience isn’t even that great. Who wants to sit in some strangers yard and drink beers for hours before freezing in a crappy stadium?Originally posted by Applejack View Post

I’ve been to NFL games in Detroit, Minny, GB, Pittsburgh, SF, LA, Charlotte, Denver, Seattle, Oakland, Cleveland, Dallas and Vegas is just as good a game day environment as any of those cities.
I’ve been to a majority of MLB stadiums and NBA arenas and none can compare to the buzz before a VGK game.
Cold weather cities get this automatic, we’re a great sports town title because we watch games in the cold, when in reality most of them suck.

I agree Chicago and Boston.Originally posted by RC Vikings View PostI think Chicago and Boston are the two best sports cities. I feel Vegas will be the top city to go to an away game which will always make for a great environment. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

I’ve been to various Vegas bowls and, except for the Utes’ domination, there hasn’t been much excitement!Originally posted by fusnik View Post

I'll bet i've been to more Vegas Bowls than you. And here's what I can tell you for certain-Vegas is a very different sports town than it was 7 years ago.Originally posted by Applejack View PostI’ve been to various Vegas bowls and, except for the Utes’ domination, there hasn’t been much excitement!

Admit that you have been to more Vegas bowls than I have. In fact, my last time in Vegas was probably bronco’s lame duck effort!Originally posted by Donuthole View Post

Vegas is a shithole The poor saps who are forced to live there because they don't have better options will try with all their might to make the best of a shitty situation but it's still a shitty situation and no number of stadiums, arenas, casinos, or temples of the COJCOLDS will ever make it otherwise.
