  • Drew Pyne is not a great quarterback.

    • I can't wait until BYU has conference referees for most of their games. Some consistency (regardless if they are good or bad) will be nice.

      • Ball was at least a half yard short, maybe a full yard when he was down because he was carrying it in the back arm. Don't know how that is not overturned. I hate how lazy officials are on big conversions. They know where the line to gain is because the chains are always on a yard line and if you are within a yard most officials will just give it.

        • It's one thing to lose, it's another to lose knowing we should have done better. And then listening to the ND contingent, unbearable

Yup. That was winnable, no question. That first half was inexplicable.

            • Biggest disappointments (in terms of playing up to expectations) for me were, candidly, Hall and Nacua. Still love 'em, but they were subpar for the game. I expect they'll e a lot better against the Hogs. The defense played well enough that, had the offense played four good quarters, BYU wins.

Yeah he is average but he has some great weapons and ND is not a bad team. Obviously we probably win if the offense had their crap together in the first half. Very disappointing.

                  Both injured.

Bad first half against Oregon, bad first half against Wyoming, bad first half against USU, bad first half against ND...

Another bad first half will lose us the Arkansas game.

At least adjustments are being made at halftime. I feel in the past adjustments weren't even happening in game at all. My only consolation is hoping the coaching staff learning from mistakes.

I agree with this. I'm not claiming a utah moral victory but the ability for the coaches to make adjustments in most games is a welcome change. Even 3 years ago if we had a bad start we would just get run. Now we need to stop having these flat starts.

Well, we love and learn don't we?

                        • One thing I was encouraged by....the defense. Regardless of what that dipshit in the booth was saying, we did not get pushed around. I'm encouraged. I'm still waiting for a game in which the defense, offense, and special teams plays well. One of those has crapped the bed in each of our games.

Bummer; they were clearly not their usual selves.

It really hurts to have the kicking game be such a mess. I watched a lot of football today and every time a random kicker calmly split the uprights with a nice high kick from inside 40 yards I got sad.

Edit: i also thought the d played well. I wasn't understanding the game thread in the first half. The offensive ineptitude was clearly the issue.

                              • That first half was, for the most part, an offensive abomination.

                                I blame the thread title.

And Hall for not being properly warmed up for the first half.

What's with the refs ignoring the defensive holding (repeatedly) by Nacua's defender?

Would have been nice if Nacua would have caught the catchable balls anyway.

BYU's best wide receiver might just be Kody Epps. Dude is making plays.
