I keep reminding myself that in the long term, BYU is going to a P5 league and has a national fan base that is passionate about the on-field product.
There is lots of reason to think that the long-term trajectory of the program is going up, and in big ways.
May that thought comfort us in the short term, because I foresee a lot of hurt just around the corner.τὸν ἥλιον ἀνατέλλοντα πλείονες ἢ δυόμενον προσκυνοῦσιν

Hurt as in losses on the field or hurt as in having to start recruiting connections all over again? I just see so much doom and gloom and then optimism, the whiplash is baffling. I do worry that something major has happened over the last couple of seasons that has led to a lot of broken in state relationships with recruits. I have no reason to think this but it seems like others are intimating this has happened.Originally posted by All-American View PostI keep reminding myself that in the long term, BYU is going to a P5 league and has a national fan base that is passionate about the on-field product.

Mostly losses, but yeah, we have a ways to go with recruiting. I foresee us really struggling to get to consistently bowling for the next few years.Originally posted by USUC View Post

How about two straight trips to the Rose Bowl by the uofutah. Meanwhile, unmet expectations last year and BYU losing to some Sunbelt School in a "I can't even remember what it's called" bowl last year and unmet expectations and the NM Bowl this year. Seems pretty simple to me.Originally posted by USUC View Post

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I do think most of the fanbase understands this and expects it. This bowl could be the last for a couple of years. If a good long term plan is in place, I'm completely ok with some struggles. I don't expect a lot of arrogance from the fans coming into the Big-XII. Until BYU wins a game they shouldn't and unrealistic hopes are raised I suppose.Originally posted by All-American View PostMostly losses, but yeah, we have a ways to go with recruiting. After spending quite a bit of time on Twitter, and in a few of the NIL groups, I believe that you overestimate our fanbase by a wide margin. Most folks are under the delusion that we are going to walk into the B12 and kick ass....because we are BYU. And if we don't, the coaching staff needs to be nuked.Originally posted by USUC View Post

So no....our fanbase is irrational in regards to this. Most of them anyways.

It's a snow day in the West Ada school district.Originally posted by Green Monstah View PostWinter is coming."I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

This year would’ve hurt a lot more if we were still independent. It hurts less becssue we are finally going to start getting real cash in the door. Utah has had every advantage for the past decade and thankfully with the departures of USC/UCLA they basically be on the same level in terms of advantage (well, except that we have the honor code…).Originally posted by All-American View PostI keep reminding myself that in the long term, BYU is going to a P5 league and has a national fan base that is passionate about the on-field product.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf
