It is widely known here how you feel about "putting up a U." You need say nothing further. And thank you for sullying my cheerful little post.Last edited by LA Ute; 08-30-2010, 10:11 AM.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

The people of Oregon and Washington have the same feeling about not playing USC/UCLA or Cal/Stanford and playing Colorado/Utah every year.Originally posted by creekster View PostIt doesnt surp[rise me. Given the absolute revulsion that all the Cal people had to the possibility of not paying USC/UCLA every year it was clear they were going to press very hard to put all the newcomers in the other dicision. OTOH, I thought Colorado's deal had them playing USC or in a divisdion with USC or some such?Get confident, stupid

This article makes me laugh.Originally posted by U-Ute View PostThe latest rumors on the division alignment.
California and Arizona schools in the South division, everyone else in North, with TV concessions to keep the northwest schools happy.

U-Ute
"Are the Northwest schools okay with that?"
Answer printed in the blog (I paraphrase): "Expect major scheduling and revenue concessions."
USC's response to the answer that's not published in the blog: "Like hell, we agreed to these concessions. Why exactly are we doing this again, so we can put Colorado and Utah in the conference? WTF!?"Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Now that the Northwest schools hate it, that only leaves the Arizona schools. Why exactly is the PAC doing this again? Seeing what's happened in the Big 12 North, I can't imagine the Northwest schools' fans and ADs being okay with this. Being kept out of a division with the four California schools is a significant step down for them.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostThe people of Oregon and Washington have the same feeling about not playing USC/UCLA or Cal/Stanford and playing Colorado/Utah every year.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Demographics and geography are vastly different in the north country of the Pac-10 than they are in the Big 12. Your Pac-10 North would include at least one Bay Area school and Seattle -- two markets that alone crush anything within the Big 12 North footprint. And I think your HS players coming out of Washington, Oregon and Utah crush anything the Big 12 North states have to offer.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostNow that the Northwest schools hate it, that only leaves the Arizona schools. I'll always maintain that a North-South alignment, with a California Zipper inclusion, is the best route for the Pac-12.

this is the model i like best...
North
Oregon
Oregon State
Washington
Washington State
Stanford
USC
South
Utah
Colorado
Arizona
Arizona State
Cal
UCLA
everyone will get a trip to so cal at least 2 out of every 3 years under this model, and with 9 games, each team will play all but 2 teams. i think it makes sense.

Did you even read the linked article? They said all four California schools are going to remain together in the same division. If that's true, forget about the Bay Area.Originally posted by Top Ute View PostDemographics and geography are vastly different in the north country of the Pac-10 than they are in the Big 12. Population of current Big 12 North States (only counting 1/3 of Iowa): 16.4 Million
Population of the Big 12 South States: 28.5 Million
Population of Pac 12 North States (only counting 1/2 of Utah- and I'm being generous): 16.8 million.
Population of Pac 12 South States: 43.6 Million.
Yep, the Pac 12 North is vastly superior to the Big 12 North. And there's far less inequality between the proposed Pac 12 divisions.Part of it is based on academic grounds. You play all of your own division once...you play your 'rival' and then you play 3 of the other 5 schools every year and miss out on 2 schools every year. Rotated thru every year to pick up the 2 you missed, etc.

Non, no, no, you don't understand. The test is the number of times Utah plays in L.A. The only acceptable plan has the Utes playing here the maximum number of times. Why can't anyone understand this?Originally posted by UteStar View PostI like that...I also like the zipper of something like this:
