You're talking basketball, right? Fresno and Nevada are not a football draw for me.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

If BYU leaves, splitting the new MWC tv contract 10 ways is going to be heaps of cash for these schools. Heaps. If BYU stays, then you get to split it 11 ways and most likely not evenly. Either way, what a cluster F.

          Yikes...
We ticked some people off. Most of it's sour grapes, much like how I felt when Utah left. I got over that pretty quickly because it was an obvious decision. It looks like the $5 Million payout has ticked people off, and that will turn out to be a really bad PR move if everyone didn't sign it.

That said, I don't really care if we don't play Fresno or Nevada.

C'mon Benson--invite TCU and BSU follows.

            Agreed.

I was actually hoping Boise might come back to the WAC -- but the WAC minus Fresno and Nevada is a pretty terrible and far-flung conference.

I kind of like the WCC idea, actually, but BYU would absolutely dominate that conference in most sports -- not sure if all the WCC schools would go for that.

The commissioner is already welcoming them. You can bet he has a pulse on what the members think of the idea.

Uhhh...... You are aware that BYU was never planning on joining the WAC for football, right?

Rumor is that they're scheduling a few WAC games every year as part of the deal. I wasn't salivating over Fresno or Nevada anyway.

USU, Hawaii, and two others. Dream would be BSU and TCU.

Can someone explain to me the logic behind Boise going back to the WAC? Even with the recent defections the MWC is still a better football conference.

Are the Fresno and Nevada invites conditional? Do they apply only in the event of BYU departing?

I agree that the MWC is a better football conference, but the MWC minus BYU and Utah isn't exactly what Boise anticipated when they made the move. The automatic BCS bid for the MWC is out the window, so why not stay in the WAC where the chance to go undefeated is a lot better?

according to the 3:56 entry, it was independent of byu leaving the mwc.

Star Telegram reporter tweeted some remarks TCU's Gary Patterson made today about the situation:

I get the impression Boise doesn't think that way. Plus the rap against them is always, fairly or unfairly, that they play in a weak conference. Boise running the MWC (even sans Utah and BYU) is much more impressive than Boise running the WAC.
