You know, I would never be foolish enough to argue that Texas is innocent in the entire affair, but to pin the breakup of the B12 entirely on Texas is an extreme oversimplification.Originally posted by YOhio View PostDriving away some of the most storied programs in CFB from the fertile recruiting grounds of Texas and a great conference seems pretty incompetent."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? I think he's talking about OU. At least, I doesn't sound incompetent to drive other schools away from the fertile recruiting grounds of Texas.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostYou know, I would never be foolish enough to argue that Texas is innocent in the entire affair, but to pin the breakup of the B12 entirely on Texas is an extreme oversimplification.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. aTm doesnt want to be with Texas.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostYou know, I would never be foolish enough to argue that Texas is innocent in the entire affair, but to pin the breakup of the B12 entirely on Texas is an extreme oversimplification.
Colorado said it doesn't want to go back to a regime in which Texas calls all the shots.
Texas joins the Big 8 and demands that conference HQ moves to Dallas.
Texas has been involved in the death of 2 conferences in basically the past 15 years.
These other guilty parties....of what are they guilty? Wanting equal revenue, like the SEC and other BCS conferences? I don't get it.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

aTm has been obsessed with Texas for decades. If you look up "little brother syndrome" in the dictionary, you see a photo of aTm.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostaTm doesnt want to be with Texas.
They are now saying the same thing about OU. Going to the PAC-12 has lots of benefits beyond getting away from Texas. It's not that simple.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostColorado said it doesn't want to go back to a regime in which Texas calls all the shots.
Joins along with three other teams. Could that not be considered a merger?Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostTexas joins the Big 8 and demands that conference HQ moves to Dallas.
Ditto for BYU. Three if you count what happened to the WAC last year.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostTexas has been involved in the death of 2 conferences in basically the past 15 years.
OU ditching is the real death knell for the B12. They most certainly aren't leaving to get equal revenue. They have enjoyed the same windfall that Texas has.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostThese other guilty parties....of what are they guilty? So I ask again, what is OU's angle here? They say it's about stability, but they ARE stability. The Big 12 survives with them there. The only other team that would consider jumping after A&M leaves is Missouri. Okie State will always stay with OU and TTech will tag along with Texas as long as they are allowed to. The rest of the Big 12 north will stay as long as there is a home for them. So by defnition, if OU stays the conference is stable. Unless they think they can't trust Texas to stay.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostOU ditching is the real death knell for the B12. They most certainly aren't leaving to get equal revenue. Okay, moving threats aside, I have a whole bunch of questions at this point. Assume OU and OSU do go to the PAC-14 and aTm does go to the SEC.
1. What happens to the dregs of the B12? I can see Mizzou to either the b1G or to the SEC, but then what? Texas and TT to the PAC 16? Then ND and Pitt to the B1G? And FSU and VaTech to the SEC too? And then the ACC pillages the Big East to get to 16? At this point you have four 16 team conferences and a hell of a lot of also-rans.
2. What happens to the BCS bids? In the above scenario, you now theoretically have more of an antitrust argument than you do now if two disappear, no? Does the Fiesta Bowl just go away?
3. How will the PAC enjoy being the bitch of the flyover Oklahoma?
4. How long until the conferences implode, and will it be before I replace all of the DSORB with purple?Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.
