I kind of wonder if Notre Dame might have a chance to be the power broker at this stage.

I thought the same thing when I read the link title.

Notre Dame could certainly throw things in an upheaval.

The SEC or Big 10-ish could certainly throw things into an upheaval if they were to expand further.

Texas could up and walk to the PAC12 and that would certainly put them in the position of power because the Big12 would then be pretty hosed.

Interesting discussion though: Who has the most power in college football right now? The SEC? The Big12? Texas? ND? The Big10?

No they can't. Well I guess they could, but the big12 would have the rights to all their games, so that would be interesting.

You are way off on Texas. They can't go anywhere.

I asked previously and still don't understand why the conferences just don't force Notre Dame to join a conference. Why do they keep granting concessions? The football program hasn't been a consistent winner in decades. Also, the Irish are stuck because they couldn't move their teams out of the big east for a few years due to the mandatory notification period.

Notre dame in no way holds all the cards, not by a longshot. They aren't calling the shots.

Right now the B12 is in a legit position to add Florida State, Miami, Clemson, Georgia Tech and Louisville. That would make it as good if not better football conference than the SEC and a better basketball conference than the SEC.

If the Big 12 swung for the fences it could be the top dog across the board.

Good question. For now I would say Notre dame followed by the big 10. At least of you define power in terms of the one who can drive the most change. The PAC 12 has almost none. The big east almost none. The acc only if it can get Norte dame and the big 12 unless the acc gets nd.
